The Samg P207 was pulled from the website and our inventory due to the return rate of this phone. There was a major problem with the phone rebooting itself among other things. I really haven't been told (for sure) that it has been discontinued. But we were told not to sale it. Apparently they are trying to see if the problem could be fixed. I assume that if it's not fixed with certain period of time it won't be back. ☚ī¸

what about the samsung e317? I was told they pulled it to fix the speaker problem, which i have, and then began selling it again. Ive sent the phone back through XBM once and to the store once prior. Will they get me another one exchanged?

I would suggest calling XBM and ask them 800-801-1101. I really don't have the answer to that question. I don't know XBM policies too well.

let me ask you this. I had a rep send me UPDATES to my phone while i was on it one day. My aunt used my phone to call for help with her bill and she couldnt hear him so she complained for me and he sent me updates while we were on it. After it said to power off the phone. I did.

Was that the fix or was there an actual mechanical problem where they replaced parts of the phone? I understand if your not sure, just wondered and maybe someone does.

Did you notice any improvement? Unfortunately I don't work for tech support and don't know if that specific problem could be fixed over the air. My understanding is that only things like voicemail, GPRS connectivity, SIM card issues, and the like are fixable over the air. Now the your problem like you said: "is a mechanical problem" and I don't think it could be fixed over the air. That'd be like someone fixing my speaker phone, or my camera over the air. It's a bit hard to grasp!

No its not better. In areas where there is even a little noise, i can barely hear at full volume. A lot of times peoples words are scrambled and distorted. Sometimes i go from full signal to little or no signal as soon as i hit the send button.

That sounds like the well known issue with the phone. How much longer you got in your contract? are you eligible for upgrade?

my contract expires December 28th. Because of where I work i only had to do a 1 year contract at 2 year prices and i get a montly discount on my bill which is why i still have cingular.

What plan do you have? is it $79.99 or over? if so, you may be eligible to upgrade your phone earlier. 😉

Dang! will you be willing to do an XBM? cuz this is the only thing I can think of at this time. Either that or get another phone from a differnet source like Ebay.... shhhhhh! you didn't hear that from me though. 😕 I didn't say that 😲

i had gotten a p207 on ebay and it was low volume too. I think its just samsungs smaller phones that have low volume, but add the distortion and stuff and you got a problem! Maybe I will try XBM, but they try to pinpoint the problem and make you wait a little and call back if it continues..only reason they gave me a new one last time is cause the lady at the store used my phone and saw it and noted my account. Maybe since I did it onces already they will just give me another one.

I really like the new Nokia 6102 thats coming soon..the LG C2000 looks like my e317 in some ways but ive heard bad things about the LG's.

there's also a lower end LG c1500 coming out, which i have used and it works very well actually - no reception issues like the 1300.

back to the main topic - with all the P207's and E317's we have sold, i have probobly only seen 1 or 2 of each come back for none of the reasons listed here.

The 317 was pulled due to Samsung not being able to obtain some parts to manufacture the phone. We were going to EOL it early instead of keeping it on backorder for 2 months, but they must have pulled some parts out of thier ash to keep it alive.

so i emailed cingular about another e317 through exchange by mail and this is the response:

"After reading your e-mail I have reviewed your account and when you have your phone replaced through our Exchange-by-Mail program you are getting a refurbished phone. Cingular is only obligated to replace the phone within 30 days from the date of purchase. After the first 30 days the phone is warranted by the manufacturer for 12 months from the date of purchase. If you wish to receive a new E317 you will need to contact Samsung at 888-987-4357 in those regards. I hope that this adequately addresses your concerns."

So XBM only works once?

Gee, thanks for the help. Now i know not to get the e317 that i never planned on purchasing. Back to the topic, i called CS and they told me that the p207 i ordered was stuck in the warehouse. Has this happened to anyone else? And will they still ship me the p207 or something in place of it?

I work for Cing in a store and am still within my 30 days.... i'm thinkin of switchin it for something else just because of the problems people are reporting with it... i don't wanna get 4 months into it and be stuck with it if it does go bad...

So if I was to go into Cingular and buy this phone:

1. How would I know if its been re-flashed with newest software? Do they somehow label the outside box or phone?

2. How much this phone is without a contract?

3. And how does it compare to my current handset (Moto V551)?

I've kinda been wanting to buy this phone but was unsure after seeing conflicting reviews, any help as always is appreciated, thanks!! 🙂
