Goodbye Craptel! đ¤Ŗ
I'm still waiting for an explaination of why PTT is a good thing.
If what he says is true, and you look at the coverage difference between carriers, looks Cingular will have you beat.
Kodiak's PTT solution is supposedly the best PTT that's around right now (next to Direct Connect on iDen).
Never would I give my parent company more money than i absolutely have to. đ
I'm not even sure if any of my phones are push-to-talk capable. Is the Razr or the 6230 or the 6620 push to talk, does anyone know?
On Nokia's website, if I'm not mistaken, the 6230 is listed as such. But I could easily be mistaken.
If anyone could clear up the issue it'd be much appreciated. đŗ
towing companies.. they gotta call in when they pick up a vehicle and drop it off... say the office is busy, you ptt, they tell u to hld on.. while your holding, you set the phone down, release/pickup the car, then when they ptt u back, you pick up the phone.. saves time.
is that a good enough reason, or do u want me to offer more? there are tons of uses...
and yes, it is being launched in sept for businesses, and oct for consumers(retail). most cou lines for employees should be receiving ptt phones sometime in sept(can't wait)
In your situation above, why could they not have called using free mobile to mobile and just leave it on hold. Would cost nothing and would save just as much time and not pay $10 extra a month.
Kodiak is actually pretty good on its own but when you put it on the gsm/gprs network it will make it slower.
i posted something... https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_forum.php ?fm=m&ff=715&fi=366728

oh ok, but it will be over the gsm network, which always makes the system slower regardless if its over voice or not. by the way we will have to see what happens to capacity if it does use the voice channels.
Please present facts to back up your statement. đ¤Ŗ

allegedly the response time is .1 to .3 ms (yes that's milliseconds) slower than Nextel, but i need to do more research on how Kodiak's platform works. from what i thought it will use the data network, not the voice channels

I see, that is an interesting business plan to look at. We will see if that product does well.
Sprint has more spectrum then cingular and soon more towers which will increase pops and capacity.
(the white papers say the same too)
whenever you are on voip and on gprs it will be slower then normal.
Kodiak's PTT uses GSM voice channels and just "cuts out" the necessary dialing in a normal phone call. That is how it is possible to reach speeds on par with Nextel's DirectConnect.
