While at my Cingular store.......

I decided to post here instead of Howards place since more reps watch this site. My belt clip broke, so I went to get another. Although I was first in the waiting line, the store personnel were busy with other customers. Then things got interesting.

The store manager and an obvious new hire trainee were helping the customers. I recognized neither person from 3 prior visits. Anyway, the customer the manager was helping was purchasing a two year plan and getting a Samsung model. The manager was reading the paperwork and then asked the customer for a driver’s license. The customer said he didn’t have one. The manager then asked the customer for a credit card. The customer said he didn’t have one, but pulled out a wad of cash and offered to ...

When the credit check is run it compares it with the previous addresses on your credit history. I've had to call in a few times when these don't match up and have these looked at.

Getting a copy of the DL is more to protect us at the store level than on the company level, since they verify and activate service over the phone. Secondary proof of ID ensures that there wont be anyone contesting the activation with Cingular, and the store not being reimbursed consequently.

That's also pretty much accurate about the belt clips. My store has a product we sell which is just the belt clip for $9.99, but not a lot of stores have them. Our cases sell from $24.99 to $29.99 depending on brand name.

Some stores just sell the clip like Ralph said. We do as well. But I know that our cases come with a one year warranty so we replace any case that breaks in any way.

Thank you both for the replies. I have my receipt and I'll give Cingular another visit today. You are correct, the case assembly does have a 1-year warranty. I paid $9.99 per the receipt. The same case is now $26.97

Accessory pricing is likely to be the most varied between stores, and you're more likely to get a good price on it when you're getting it with a phone.

I work for a cellular company and I would have not activated that phone. There are somethings you should do to get a sale but fraud is one thing we should try to stay away from. I know a while back I had a customer who came in and wanted a phone. She had a 99 dollar deposit and was going to pay it. I thought nothing of it until she mentioned she had an alltel and it was cut off. I asked why and she said they turned it off due to fraud and she said it was not fraud. So I called Alltel up and they said all she had to do was go to an Alltel Corporate owned store and show he ID. I told her and she said she did not want to go which the store was across the street from me. So I simply played dumb and said Suncom would not activate the phone either...
