I was wondering what is the policy for having websites that sell cell phones, Affilates sites that use Wirefly or LetsTalk.

Does at&t ban employees from owning such sites and what about Blogs does at&t monitor what you can talk about.

A dealer agreement (AT&T retail store) prohibits you from selling on the internet. You can have a website for information purposes only and cannot engage in ecommerce.

National Retailers are covered under a different agreement and each one is negotiated individually. Same for etailers.

Employees are not banned from blogs or social media on their own time. They are supposed to reveal that they are an employee and their comments do not represent the company.

I was an employee of an indirect dealer and they fired me because of my website. At&t gave them the third degree.
They are great guys and I would not want to put there business in harms way but I did not think as an employee I was governed under the same rules.

This Blog was the culprit http://mobilewiseguy.com

Wait a minute - you do not feel that, as an employee of a dealer you are not subject to the rules AT&T put in place for your employer?
Do I understand this correctly?

I strongly suggest you take some business classes and study the Uniform Commercial Code, especially the laws of Agency.

No I asked the question because I wanted to know the procedures. I had that Blog first and I never told any clients of the store about it and the owners of the store knew I had it.

They had told me when I became a manager I would have to remove the site.

Employers had prior knowledge and kept you employed? What was the official reason you were fired?

AT&T demands all kinds of things from dealers that are not legal.

I guess the real question is how far do you want to go to pursue this?
