I left Sprint for this?

New ATT Guy

Aug 18, 2009, 9:33 AM
I had Sprint for 9 years. As you all know, Sprint has been blowing big time. Well, I left Sprint on July 2nd and switched to AT&T. Back in the day, AT&T/Cingular was hot. They were number 1 until VZW bought Alltel. Everyone liked them. I've had them for two months now and honestly, their phones (blackberry) are very slow and their CS Reps at the business services (my account) are very dumb about somethings and unfriendly. They seem like they aren't even trying to help you with troubleshooting. What gives? Are they about to replace Sprint as the bottom of the barrell wireless company?

I think you picked the wrong time to leave Sprint. They've been getting significantly better while AT&T has allowed this I-Phone bandwagon to carry them right off a cliff as far as customer service and network quality goes. Mark my words, AT&T will pay dearly for this mess. You think Sprint's customer bleeding has been bad, you haven't seen anything yet.

I will say I have been seeing some marked improvements with sprint lately from brand imaging to network coverage as well as 3G speeds.. Hopefully this upward trend continues... The Pre is an amazing phone I will say...

You don't think moving 3G to 850 will make that much of a difference? Nobody from Atlanta has posted in the ATT forum yet as to what the rest of the country can expect from 3G being moved to 850.

I've been with ATT for over
7.5yrs and live in Las Vegas, no problems here.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!! I still have dropped phone calls and call fails in Las Vegas. I can watch my phone have full 3g service, and go to no signal, and switch to edge. I left AT&T because of these issues, I would drop important phone calls several times a day. So I went to Verizon. But I couldn't stand their Storm. But I love my Iphone S. AT&T needs to get their crap together. You have embarrassed Apple by bein...

Do you live here? Or did you visit? Cause I hear Summerlin/Red Rock, far westside of Las Vegas gets very bad service with Verizon.

I have no complaints.

ok, Mr uneducated. Next time you post, you should have done your research. In apple's key note address earlier in the year, they announced MMS in 29 countries and 76 carriers that will support MMS at the launch of 3.0. In the states AT&T to support MMS late summer. (Crowd laughs) I have provided the link to the address below. AT the 56:10 time stamp he address MMS. Only about one minute to here what I just stated. Also I have provided a link to an article that Siegel himself stated, "MMS availability by late summer." but date unkn...

Late summer! It is not late summer yet. Not sure what everyone is mad about. Class Action law suite for what? Where would iphone be with out AT&T? Lets not forget noone else wanted it. It took apple 2 years to get MMS, but your mad at at&t for taking, as of today 2 months and 3 days. O'yea lets not forget they said late summer. They are building out the network like they said, and they will have MMS by late summer like the said. That's right LATE SUMMER, not mid summer, LATE SUMMER.

I see that you are passionate about AT&T. That's great and I commend you for that. But AT&T needs to realize they are behind the ball. Not Apple anymore. I work in telecommunications. I do not work for any wireless provider. If my company was to fall behind, I would lose my job and so will thousands of others. Technology changes almost everyday. You have to remain on that front. It's do or die. AT&T fell behind. That's the bottom line. When iPhone user purchased the first generation iPhone, it was accepted there was no MMS. But When Apple announced MMS support, AT&T should have got on top of it. You say two month and 2 days and there is an uproar. You don't just wake up and say tomorrow, we are going to update a software and not tell anyone....

Apple holds about 15% of the smartphone market in the US.

Iphone bandwidth usage is just over 60% of all bandwidth used by smartphones in the US.

Can you imagine the havoc MMS would play on a network that wasn't prepared? Could att turn on the MMS today? Sure but when the network failed because of the ungodly spike in usage there would be rioting.

(numbers could have changed, those were from right around the time the 3GS was released)
