My Predicition When Verizon Gets The iPhone

That all the VZW fanboys who hated on it before with a passion will be touting it as the greatest phone ever (on their network, of course).

I'm already aggravated over their hypocrisy! 😡

I really don't think the iPhone will come to Verizon, even if there's a CDMA or LTE version.

The iPhone will open the floodgates of Verizon customer backlash against Verizon's upper-handed control. To Verizon's credit, their network performs so beautifully for the same reasons Macs reportedly perform so well; tight control over the hardware and user experience. When you control the handsets so tightly, you can make sure they work well with your network.

The iPhone runs contrary to that, and there will be customers who won't want an iPhone, but perhaps want something else that Verizon hasn't blessed. I don't see Verizon ceding control, because it has worked well for them. I also see Wall Street giving Verizon a bad time from changin...

I agree with you. I would be surprised if the iPhone showed up on Verizon's network. At&t really "sold their soul" for the iPhone, and I doubt any other network would be willing to take the criticism at&t does when something goes wrong. I've NEVER heard anybody say, "oh no! my LG Envy2 can't update my facebook status!" But when an iPhone can't do what the person bought it for, not only is it all over the internet, it's on many tv shows as well. I think Verizon would prefer to stay the "golden boy" of wireless carriers in the u.s., and not get negative attention every time somebody with an iPhone gets made and litters the internet with their negative things to say about a network.

I sometimes wonder if AT&T's deal with Apple was even worth it. AT&T has taken a financial hit because of the iPhone and at the same time their network is becoming crowded with new iPhone users so people like me end up suffering with network busy signals, dropped calls, etc.

I think we're all paying the price for having the iPhone on our network.

what are you talking about? don't you claim you use 2G only? If that's the case then you should not even be affected at all 🙄

The iPhone may never come to CDMA, but at some point or another it will need to drop exclusivity with AT&T.

AT&T doesn't have the spectrum assets to support the iPhone data demand and the growth that it's experiencing every day almost everywhere in the country. They won't be able to handle the increasing demand going forward, especially if VOIP gets mandated when the whole Google Voice thing shakes out or some other network-killing app shows up on the scene.

Upgrading their existing network to 7.2 Mbps or even LTE is not going to solve the problem because even though these technologies make huge improvements in theoretical end-user speeds, they are still hampered in the amount of data that can be transferred per MHz of clear spectrum....

Don't forget though that every other carrier passed on the iPhone. I'm sure the exclusivity part was the quid for freedom part of the pro quo.

I believe you are correct in that at some point, the iPhone will be on other carriers. Probably not CDMA, more like whatever the rest of the world decides is the next evolution.

What happened 3 years ago doesn't matter much in an environment that experiences dramatic shifts in capabilities and user expectations every 10 months or so.
The assumption that every other carrier told Apple to go fly a kite on the initial launch is ancient history.
Either way, we're in for an interesting series of events the next year or so.

Not me... I like my BlackBerry. It does everything a smart phone should be, including multitasking. I can be on AIM, Yahoo, and MSN at the same time. I can be listening to Slacker Radio, update my Twitter status, receive Facebook messages, text messages, emails and BBM all at the same time. It does everything I need 🙂

This is a very good topic you started. I think that Verizon will pick up the Iphone once they have there LTE network running solid. The best thing that AT&T and any GSM carrier for that matter has going for them is the phone selection. Once Verizon Has there LTE network up the phone selection will be amazing.

Just an FYI my opinion is that the Iphone will still be a major player in years to come, but the next generation devices will be android.

The great thing that apple has going for them is there marketing, just to state I am a Verizon Wireless customer. Now with that being said, the Iphone just came out with copy and paster on the 3GS. The way Apple marketed it in there commercials was amazing!!!! I so wanted to use copy a...

Thats why i love GSM. It's global and the world standard, so there are so much phones out there, even phones not mention in the US. I love GSM. CDMA is so limited in phone selections and there mainly is the US. they have manufactures like... kyocera?? hahah!!!

And i would totally agree with you about apple, i own apple products already and they are really good. But i do have to give them koodos about there marketing, specially with the copy and paste. It's all about marketing and how they set it up. your right momma!! haha

I interpret those commercials a bit differently.

I find it hilarious that it's taken so long for such basic functionality to be added to the iphone - yet you can only get this functionality by buying yet another iphone.

Hence the reason why I don't buy into the iHype.

By the time Verizon gets the iphone it will be like the RAZR.....Old News and it will still look the same and other phone makers will have caught up in "user experience" as far as I am concerned the ONLY advantage Iphone has.....Feature wise its still 3 years old....and controlwise...well lets just say Iphone will be right at home with Verizon...

I have a feeling that if the iphone ever goes to verizon (or any other carrier) it's only because at&t has something else lined up that is better. They may not have the best network (though that's mostly just opinion) but there's never been a question that at&t has ALWAYS had the best phones.

A few points I would like to make. First point is that I thought that with the Iphone You can also get the copy and past if you updated the software? Which does not require you to purchase the 3GS. I could be wrong but thats what I thought.

Now for the second point: It is true that verizon Wireless does not have as good of equipment compared to GSM service providers. Now, with that being said, in the united states you have to pick your poison. CDMA technology is far the better network in the united states. The #1 reason why I have a cell phone is to make calls in the case of emergency and every other reason why I have a cell phone follows behind that.

So for me Verizon Wireless is a better choice. Other peoples opinions or us...

My prediction when Verizon gets the iPhone... Look out AT&T you have dropped the ball on network, customer service, competitive rate plans, and good employee relations. When Verizon get the iPhone you might need some government bailout funds. Lol
