I have had it 😡 . This is the final time I have a problem with verizon. My contract doesnt expire until jan of 2010. I know that i should do the right thing and wait it out but they have screwed me over so many times i feel like a litle retrobution is in order. I would love to switch to at&t and get an iphone, but dont want to pay verizon a crap load of money to do it. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appriciate it

You can give ur contract away. If you find someone who wants verizon, you can take them into the store and have all the info put in thier name. The downside is you would have to get a new number when you go to at&t.

You can port out the VZW number to AT&T, then have it reactivated with VZW with a new number, getting rid of the termination fee. Then you could transfer it to another person.

You work for At&t, stick to what you know. Once you port the number out, that line is dead. There is no "reactivating a ported out linewith a new number."

I think what he is saying is that this person could take their old Verizon number with them to AT&T WITHOUT shutting off their old line- but merely change the number.

Then, they would let someone else take the Verizon account over.

Yes possible. It's been done before.

It is entirely possible. I do not know the specifics of the VZW billing system as I have never used it, but I have called in to have this done with Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint before. I know how to do it on our system and it is incredibly easy, I can't imagine why it would be so difficult on other carriers.

All you have to do it call in and say that you want your line reactivated, but you want a different number on it as it was already ported out. Don't listen to the VZW trolls.

It cannot be done they would not let me do it. I think it depends on which area the customer is in but here in the Midwest Verizon would not let me do it so I had to port my number back and get a new number from AT&T.

Don't just stop at the first no. Call back and try again with another rep, or escalate to a supervisor.

Every area uses the same system. It is very much possible.

I have done it before, and I will do it again. In fact, I'm going to do it more just to spite you.

Aren't you a little fiesty one? Don't feed the animals kids they may bite. Bottom line you work for at&t and i work for vzw and it's not possible in our system honey. So spite away my little kitten.

What makes it impossible? Once you port a number are you not able to reactivate that account anymore?
...

They wouldn't let me reactivate the line with a different number. They only would reactivate the line if I ported the number back.

It depends on who you get. I have had to escalate to a supervisor before because someone told me they simply would not do it.

It may be that they simply add a new line of service to the account and credit the ETF on the other line. It makes no difference as it accomplishes the same goal.

ding ding ding. we have a winner. but reading your original post, that is not reactivating a ported out line with a new number. secondly, we do not do that since we all know that we are adding another line and all the overhead that goes with that.

What overhead is there that's different from any other pointless customer care call?

It won't be a new 2 year, obviously they'd need to use existing equipment with the line and the new line could have the contract adjusted to the match the previous line's.

Well whoever you are, you are clearly not the people I have talked to previously, as they were much more helpful.

Seriously?

The OP didn't ask for a link to an iPhone article, he asked how he can get out of his contract with Verizon without an ETF. Do you have that information? If not, then why don't you go play with your crippled, overpriced Verizon phone and leave everyone on this forum alone?

Step Two: Say something useful.

P.S. Figur e out how to use BOLD text

He wasn't attacking you. Cellphonejocky is the worst troll on the internets.

Granted, the bold and italics do need to be calmed down.

You and I both know that the 3G issues at AT&T are NOT limited to the iPhone.

I fail to see how an example of poor network hand offs would NOT be relevant to a conversation about choosing a cellular carrier.

Working in wireless for the last six years I love hearing the comments that they "screwed you". Almost 100% of the time it is you that screwed yourself. And every time I have caught a Verizon mistake (very seldom is it the carriers fault) They are more than happy to correct the issue and offer apology's. Whine Whine Whine B!tch b!tch b!tch. JESUS PEOPLE TAKE RESPONSABILITY FOR YOUR MISTAKES.
