Your issue with the metro is that Verizon has contracted with them to place wireless repeaters underground. If they hadn't, Verizon wouldn't work down there either.

As far as coverage maps go, you really wont find much difference. POPs are nearly equal between the top tier carriers, but AT&T already shut down their analog services. When the CDMA carriers turn them off, expect to see a dramatic change when comparing POPs.

From what I've read, Verizon has an exclusive deal with DC Metro subways to be the only wireless service. I'm not sure when the contract expires. As far as who has better coverage between AT&T and Verizon, it all depends on where you live.

Seems the District of Columbia and their DC Metro are not concerned with the safety and communication abilities of all their citizens.....just the ones that carry Verizon phones? Unbelievable? Hmmmm...

The Metro probably put the service out for bid and VZW paid more for it.

Yep, the Metro is a private business not a government entity.

Well CDMA more flexibly allocates resources when processing calls however, ATT however has great coverage in the area. Check out this video explaining.
