Yeah the reason is tmobile only operates a 1900mhz network and cingular has 850/1900. 850 gives stronger signal

Go take a look at T-Mobile's coverage map and compare that to Cingular's. Cingular is about three times the size. Granted, there are going to be "streets" where T-Mobile works better than Cingular, but based on size alone, T-Mobile can hardly be called a "big-boy." I like to think of T-Mobile as the "puny-girl" of wireless. (oh, i went there) 🙂

Hi pearl currently there are a number of phones that play what we call MP3s or real ringtones. A couple of modles to look at are the MOTOROLA v551 as well as the nokia 6230. But make no mistake. most phones cannot play MP3s I work for cingular and those are the top 2 phones that we sell. You can also look at the motorola razr. But that phone is 500 dollars. Well, it's really not important what you end up looking like.

Just because a carrier says they get coverage in a certain area doesnt mean you necessarily will.

There are many factors in getting reception or not. The phone itself is a key factor in the reception someone may get or not. Also, like I stated previously, there could be interference in the radio frequency coming off of the tower to the phone.

If Verizon and Cingular truly lied about their coverage area, however much of it, this would have been discovered a long time ago and they would have gotten in trouble over making false claims in order to attract customers. False advertisement is a crime, after all.

First of all, I work for cingular and yeah, the customer service leaves some to be desired. It all depends on who you get a hold of I guess. Secondly, they really didn't want to help you on your friends account because its not yours. They are only supposed to help you if your name is on it. And lastly, all coverage maps are estimates. They are based on triband handsets. If you don't have the required amount of bands on your handset you won't get service in the area. Also, if you took the time to read your contract with any carrier, it clearly says that service is not avaliable in all areas at all times. It depends on a number of thing, like the handset, battery life, weather (yeah, strange I know), and the place you are. If you are surrounde...

I gave her the phone and she gave them her account info and also told them that I know more about cell phones than she does and that I would be talking to them to help her out. also the wireless industry has one of the highest consumer complaints with the bbb so I would be willing to bet that all the wireless companys are getting sued by multiple partys. its the nature of the beast. in my opinion this is because the wireless industry has only really been in the personal sector for 4-5 years and there are still many people who dont understand policies and procedures of all the carriers
