I really don't like calling anyone, or, any company "dumb", but in this case, sorry AT&T, it is well deserved.
We use VZW for our cell service. I also carry an AT&T Blackberry as this way I am reasonably sure that wherever I travel, between VZW and AT&T, I will be able to make a phone call, plus, I have yet to find one device that meets all of my needs.
Shortly after signing up for AT&T I learned that I could not have online access because we are a business account with just one line. Huh!?!?!? Ok, I let it go, not a huge deal.
When calling someone's mobile number I regularly use VZW's and AT&T's "mobile to mobile" look up tool to determine which device would be best to use to take advantage of the "in" calling program.
Imagine m...

I wouldn't necissarily call it dumb, you should have read their terms and conditions, and due to you situation they should have lowered the cancelation fea. I have to experienced their service, not to satisfied with it due to their poor customer service, but still you should have gone to their online website and chatted with one of the online workers in their message box and they would have helped you through it step by step.

Terms and conditions? They just changed the look-up tool in the last week or so and I signed up for service about 6 months ago, or so.
As for chatting online, sadly, their site like many others unfortunately is not mac friendly.
...
Well then go To
the store and talk to them face to face about it

Did, as I maintain a relationship with them (and VZW) when I DON'T need anything. They too were very perplexed.
...
You should port to sprint. They are much more customer friendly.

yeah, right....NOT
...
Please explain this lack of online access. You can't access websites from your blackberry?
...
I don't understand what is confusing. pwfb can't access information on their account online on www.att.wireless.com because on corporate accounts they don't allow online access. Their chief purpose is to find out if what numbers they dial are mobile to mobile and it is impossible with current restrictions to access that information under a business account.
...

Chainsaw, sorta. From what I understand, and perhaps I am wrong, when you have a business account, and there is only 1 line, you can not have access, even if you own your company.
...
I'm not sure. We don't handle many business accounts, its a dumb policy, but I can see why companies wouldn't want their employees making changes via online, but what should happen is the business should be able to decide whether it wants the access or not this blanket policy is dumb you are right.

Thanks. At the very least, they should allow an approved company administrator have online access to the account.
As for the M2M look-up tool, I remain confused. If I look up a number and all it tells me is whether that person is "in" their network and no other info, where is the security problem?
...
because once someone knows what network someone is one they can send auto messages (spam) to a certain group of people. also, it helps prevent social engineering.

Are you getting some sort of discount for having it in a business name, or need to do it for your taxes?
If not, you might want to check what AT&T can do for you to get it changed to a personal account in your name instead of a business account.

No, I can not access my account via their website from my computer for the aforementioned reasons.
...
I'd get T-Mobile and get more minutes and free roaming where ATT works. T-Mob all the wayz1z
...
I didn't know trolls could laugh so loud.
...
the new privacy rules suck but have you tried going to pinstac.com to see if there is a mobile to mobile program that can help you look it up
...
And that' great for landline phones. But read again, he's not looking for that, he's looking for mobile. kthanksstfu

Thanks "retrolike"!!!
...
were you able to find a mobility trace for Blackberry from Pinstack.com? someone in their forums could find one(or create one). i know i'm talking about them but whenever i have a bb problem (or a service related one) i check there in the forums. just a thought...
...
Dude-
From what it says on here, that is only for looking up att landline and to view mobile number you can't unless you can get online access through myaccount access on the website. Which, as he expressed is impossible of right now on a business account.
I had a customer call me today say she had been talking to care for 45 minutes about getting online access for her business but they couldn't get it to work either. It is a ridiculous blanket policy that is resulting in poor customer service.

And you're wasting AT&T for, space to tell us this because.........?
...
Im not to sure if this has been said or not in the many replies to this as I was to bored to read them all.
Im sorry that youre getting hit with the ETF. Goodluck with getting it waived. I will say though... that adding the internet package to your business account can happen. You should have gone to the store and get it taken care of. I would have called in and had it added, if they said no, I would have gone higher. Ive added the BB package to many 1 line business accounts, so them telling you that you cant, is well, dumb as you say.
Dont give up so quickly just because one thing doesnt go your way. Find another solution, dont just jump ship at the first sign of trouble.
Let me ask this... When your car ends up not getti...

Uhmm ... he was referring to going online to AT&T's website and accessing his account so he can view his usage, do account maintenance, upgrade phones. Not getting an internet package for his blackberry in order to get emails.
Perhaps you should've read all of the replies.
