Im hearing Rumors of a new iPda set for lounch early q1 2008 Specs of an "Externally, the mutil-touch PDA has been described by sources as an ultra-thin "slate" akin to the iPhone, about 1.5 times the size and sporting an approximate 720x480 high-resolution display that comprises almost the entire surface of the unit The device is further believed to leverage multi-touch concepts which have yet to gain widespread adoption in Apple's existing multi-touch products -- the iPhone and iPod touch -- like drag-and-drop and copy-and-paste"

Any Apple fanboys with any extra news?

What would you classify the iPhone as then?

True, it's not a PDA... few who know anything about the device ever claimed it to be. It also is not "just" a cell phone. Smartphone is probably the closest category due to data use and a lot of it's other abilities.

Perhaps the best category for it though is its own.. it's an iPhone.. a little bit of everything and not all of one. It's a device that is for some people, but not for everyone that is good on it's own merits and does not deserve the thrashing that purists wish to give it.

Honestly, it's best regarded as a class unto itself. It's unique. Now back on track.. an iNewton would be cool to see as a full fledged PDA running a Mac OS. With an upsurge in Mac sales and Apple's g...

Jack of all trades Master of none (except a touch screen ho hum)

I'd classify it the same as the goods in the Mattel section at Toys R Us.

PURISTS deserve some modicum of "purity" at $600 a pop ya think? Even at $400...

I would say the iPhone is more of an entertainment device. and yes an iNewton or iPDA whatever would be a cool addition to the apple lineup.
