new plans?
I think that new Cingular's strategy is to build network to cover the not so good reception holes rather than providing the more for your money plans.

Nothing has changed. There is no competitive prices. All carriers are doing the same thing from the 80's when they all were slammed with the price fixation civil lawsuit.

yeah because thats the right way to establish a "new" company 🤣......i am sure they know that the people here expect the following
reception every inch of the US
19.99 plans w/ eleventy billion minutes
i just want to see this plan $39.99 w/ 1000 min and unlimited nights and weekends, i dont care about M2M or rollover, if tmobile can do it, so can cingular
You and I know that prepaid generates more revenue per usage than anything else and Hispanics get the worse deals and complaint less than any other demographic affiliation.

I had this sit down and watch teleconference about the new Cingular in which the CEO and his staff briefly showed a big picture of what is expected and noticed the company wants to emphasize on prepaid services and target the Hispanic community.

yeah prepaid is a cash cow for any company because there are no costs associated w/ handsets for the company.....any hints to us consumers as far as new plans?

you would think that with the merger they would actually release a GOOD $39.99 plan 😕
why do people expect to get everything for 40 bucks. i have a nunmber of customers who pay good money ($149) to get 3000 minutes with unlimited m2m and unlimited n&w, and they dont complain, because they understand that it's the best deal out there.
i think $39.99 for 450 min, free m2m, and 5000 n&w is pretty darn good vs what else is out there.. (i just wish they would switch it to unl n&w)

Also it stinks that you have to buy the $59.99 plan to be able to add $9.99 phones. Why can't you buy $9.99 for any plan???
but compare that to others:
Tmobile:
- all lines added for $10
- basic family plan is:
$49.99
400 anytime mins (haha)
add a line and you are paying $59.99 for 2 lines and getting 400 mins
Verizon:
- all lines added for $20
- basic family plan is:
$39.99
400 anytime mins
add a line and you are paying $59.99 for 2 lines, PLUS you get to pay roaming charges 😈
Sprint:
- add a line price changes based on rate plan
- basic family plan is:
$40
500 anytime mins
add a line for $20, so 40+20=$60.00, PLUS you get to pay roaming 😈

read carefully, $49.99 gets you 2 LINES of service, not one
my mistake, i didnt catch that in the small print. you would think they would emphasize that a little more.
but their activation PER LINE is $35, whereas ours is $18 (on a family talk)
again, network size and rollover - 2 things they lack that drive customers to me. west coast may be a different story, but i am speaking on a national level, not a specific region vs another.

that's cali. my response to the original post was basing my information on a national level. 😉
in California its different than in Ohio, or in Georgia, or in New York.
If i based my info on My market here, i wouldn't have even included T-mobile, since their coverage is so bad.

I don't see anything about the $49.99 for TWO LINES -- WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT?
read carefully then
"Great for friends and family who call one another most of all. Includes unlimited mobile-to-mobile minutes.
FamilyTime plans include two lines of service. Up to three additional lines can be added to the FamilyTime plans for $10.00 per line, per month. A one-time activation fee of $35.00 per line applies.
Note: All lines of service must be activated in the same T-Mobile market and must have the same billing address."
plain as day

anyways, i cant't believe i am arguing about t-mobile. their coverage on a national level is bad, and they dont offer rollover, which in MOST customers eyes' are the 2 biggest reasons for activating with me
true but depending on rollover is pretty pathetic, and i dont care about coverage where i dont go, and everywhere i go i am covered with basically full bars at all times
BTW i do have both t mobile AND att wireless (now cingular obviously)
not to mention in california the coverage for basically ALL carriers is great so it boils down to VALUE
NUBIE

I find it very valuable. We have a family talk plan with about 200 more minutes than we use a month. When I'm out of town, our usage soars, and we dip into our rollover pool. Rollover lets us use a cheaper plan without getting dinged when we have heavy usage.
🤣
