I was thinking about getting an iPhone so . . .

What if I port my number over from Verizon on Wednesday and take advantage of AT&T's $120 gift card and free RAZR to bundle with my home phone and DSL service and then on Friday, buy the iPhone and renew my two day old two year agreement for the iPhone and then just throw the RAZR in the drawer for a spare?

Will this work? Would I have to give the RAZR back or pay any other fee? Any existing customer can upgrade to iPhone by just extending their current contract out to two years right? Or do they extend it by two years so I would then be on the hook for 4 years? I just want to get my number ported out of Verizon a couple days ahead of time so my iphone will work right away.

It will work since anybody can get the phone regardless of the contract that u signed. From my understanding u dont have to be eligible for an upgrade and can still buy the iphone just sign a 2year contract. Hope that helped

Thanks, I just ported out of Verizon today and they are sending me a free RAZR V3 (which I know is all its worth) and a $120 Visa gift card which will pay a good portion of my ETF with ole Red. Then, whenever I'm ready, I'll just go down and get an iPhone and have a RAZR for spare. Plus, I've bundled by home phone, DSL and wireless now so I'm saving about another $10 combined on all of that.

If Verizon thinks they can sit back and do nothing, they have seriously misjudged the amount of effort AT&T is putting into stealing customers.

And, I know Verizon's network is better and AT&T/Cingular sucks blah blah blah. I have used both extensively in the last two years in the Michigan market and I do agree that Verizon is superior but its n...

This is pretty freakin ingenious! I really hope it works out for you the way you want it to. I love seeing somebody get away with stickin it to the man!

It's not really sticking it to the man. The rules specifically allow for it... on AT&T's side at least. VZW gets a bit of a sticking though, I admit.

The iPhone hype is so intense right now, I think people will be buying this phone based on hype alone. I mean, is the phone really that great? Our duty is to keep you informed regarding details we come across, so the more I read about the iPhone, the less I want it.

At a glance, the device looks fantastic, features sound fun, and there's no doubt this phone is the "it" phone this year. But realistically, would you pay $500-$600 for any other phone? Like many of you, I'm still debating whether to buy an iPhone or not, so I've compiled a list of cons (since the pros are obvious) just to give myself a reality-check come Friday night.

Price/Storage: Probably the biggest reason to wait is the price. The iPhone will retail in stores for $...

I paid $600 for my first RAZR back in November 2004. I simply want the coolest phone available. I don't really care if I can make calls or not.

Can you imagine the women at the club when I unsheath my iPhone?

My Lord, they will be asking for my number just so they can know what its like to call an iPhone. 😎

I don't understand people complaining about the plans. They are basically the standard voice plans with the 19.99 unlimited media net/200 sms messages feature. Its better b/c the iphone accesses so much more than Media Net. People don't complain about Blackberry service, but its actually a more expensive add on than the iphone data plans.
