Should my brother and I join Suncom? But we worry about the roaming off the towers and paying a fortune. We're in SC. We need unlimited text/picture messaging. Early night and weekends. And don't want to be roaming in our own city on somebody's towers, lol

Okay so I am speaking as a former SunCom sales rep., who has no bitter feelings towards the company, just giving my honest opinion.

Okay so SunCom has a million customers....

not that much revenue to buy and maintain towers.

They offer low revenue plans (ie: UnPlan)...

Customers paying less money, using more minutes, costing more to maintain capacity on towers.... end result more dropped calls.

They sold off all their towers...

Making less money, no longer making roaming revenue.

--------------------------------------------- --

Only positive scenario that could happen being a SunCom customer is that they sell off to a larger company and you keep your UnPlan when they get bought out. But then you will be going through ...

Unfortunately, not many bigger companies like T-mobile USA or Cingular will be interested in a Suncom type of company because of its debt-load, negative cash flows, and its inconsistency at revenue and subscriber growth. If their management can turn it around, then they would be more attractive to Cingular or T-mobile USA or any other type of company who is trying to go in Suncom’s areas. Granted, Suncom does have very nice assets, but they continue to seek negative ROICs so why would anyone buy them? If a company like Cingular or T-mobile USA does indeed buy Suncom, they need to get rid of all of Suncom’s management, board, employees, and business and operational strategies and implement their own. Especially since at a price tag for Sunco...

Suncom at least last time I looked into them will not let you roam in an area they cover. So if you cant' get a suncom signal you get notta. So if your in SC, NC, parts of VA, TN GA and all of Puerto Rico you will never ever roam.

Were in the hell do they say they dont' tax???????? What they do is tell you what your bill will be with all taxes included!!! So you are not surprised. If they say it will be 41.98 a month that is what it is. If say sprint says its 39.99 then you need to add about 7 - 10 more for taxes. And the ATT you had NO LONGER EXISTS!!!!

When you sign up for SunCom Service, there is a $35 activation fee for the first line. Additional activation fees are $10. If you cancel service before the end of your agreement, you will be charged a $200 early cancellation fee.

SunCom Service is available to people who live in most North and South Carolina Zip codes, parts of Tennessee and Georgia and a small part of southwest Virginia. The SunCom Network has been built to provide a high level of service, but on occasion you may find that a call is dropped or can't be placed because of transmission limitations.

Taxes and government fees are additional.

I will stop there. So since I am the dumbass for reading their webiste and seeing that TAXES and GOVERNMENT fees are ADDITIONAL...
