A Wireless Wonder, Says BusinessWeek Online
A recent BusinessWeek Online article, titled "Verizon's Wireless Wonder," touts the growing success of Verizon Wireless saying, "Verizon Wireless is more than just a great telecom company. It's one of the best companies in the world - and may be one of the best ever." The article discusses Verizon's speedy growth, saying, "During the second quarter, Verizon Wireless added 1.53 million subscribers. That's more than Cingular, AT&T Wireless, Nextel, and Sprint PCS combined." Verizon Wireless' lowest in industry churn, strong profitability and management of business basics are discussed though Verizon Wireless's unparalleled network investment is cited as the key success factor. The article quotes Mi...

I think it's funny that in the statistics comparision, the article left out the second fastest growing carrier in the US. T-Mobile USA added 1.1 million customers in the second qtr.

I don't wanna bash so da speak VZW but, anyone else that maybe employed by them you gotta admit there are a lot of problems that the general public is not aware of. In fact that really goes for any wireless service for that matter. One of the biggest problems is the misconception of how customers view the wireless industries. Everyone of them have there on unique problems as well as sharred problems. The general consumer expects so much, and unfortunetly non of the providers can currently provide somethings yet that the public thinks that we can. So, what do they do get all pissed off and bent out of shape, and go with someone else just because they think that someone else can do better, and they find out too late that, that someone else can...

Eventually, you will come to the realization that as a rep all you hear is the bad side. No one ever calls to praise the company. The ratio, I beleive, of people calling in to complain to people who don't is small, but since we hear only the bad side we automatically think it's ALL bad.

It's not all bad--just a little, like Olive oil

You're right - we're not perfect, and none of the carriers are. But I am very curious to know what you're referring to (what you think is wrong). You don't mention it.

For the guy who mentioned T-mobile as coming in 2nd with 1.1 million net adds, thats great for them. The article mentions mostly Verizon Wireless because they have been the industry leader in almost every category and have been the most consistent company. T-mobile, while they are doing great right now, Verizon has done this consistently. Yes, every company has its problems, and Verizon has its share of them. However, Verizon has been the industry leader in most categories, again on a consistent basis. This article, nor do I say that Verizon is the best, but Verizon Wireless's industry leading success speaks for itself.

VZW is definitely a good company... Even though I am not emplyed by them... or even use their service... you can definitely respect how well they've handled themselves... i still feel though that no single provider will be able to fulfill the needs of all... some people are just difficult.

You hit the nail on the head, some people are just too difficult and their expectations are just too high. I do work for the company, and I have to say that this is the best company I have ever worked for. I work in tech support made nearly $75,000.00 last year, will do the same this year, just took a $9,000.00 bonus AND they are still paying for my tuition, Still funding my 401K and I am paying next to nothing for my medical and dental.. Thanks to VZW I have a nice house (owned) drive a German sports car and carry nearly $0 debits. And remember I sit on my butt all day long talking to people.
The company as a whole is a great company. I don’t care if you are a fan boy of a different cell company, you can't even argue the fact that ...

It is normally only opened internally, unless you are in an area where they use an out sourcing company and I am not sure what they look for and if all possible, would steer clear of. I believe it has been a few years since they hired from the outside. Education wise a degree in a related field is always preferred. They will take experience and time/ title with the company though. I am using tech as a stepping stone to get to the NRB and eventually one of the NOCs.

I really did not want to leave VZW. I'm with T-Mobile now and they are quite good for what I'm using them for, but I did like VZW. Because I was a VIP customer for the last 2 years and top tier customer before that, I always got the best reps and the best service. I was never made to feel that I'm pissing my money away with a company that is only out to get me.

But despite all that, they have no service in Los Americas and I was tired of paying for over-priced, underperforming phones. When they go LTE and Orange or Voda rolls out LTE here in Tenerife, I'll switch back.
