How do you get on Verizon's "Do not wiretap list"?
The National Security Agency has been secretly collecting the phone call records of tens of millions of Americans, using data provided by AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth
USA Today
Do the other cellular carriers do that? Which ones don't? I know Qwest refused to cooperate on this, and I commend them highly. And am totally disillusioned with Verizon.
if you have nothing to hide, let them and then who cares.
"i always thought that this wasnt a big deal and if they wanted consumers records who cares becuase it increases the level of security on this country- we cant afford another 9/11. (it would pretty much destroy the country's finances)
i think if they also want to spy on our daily lives every second then again same premise with what i just said would be applied here.
as long as it keeps us safe then so be it."

That's just retarded if you think tapping lines is going to make the country safer. 9/11 had all the signs and CIA bush and all the other ftards didn't do anything about it. To sit here and say tapping millions and millions of customers is goi...

my point i have been trying to convey to the message boards on all carriers with this discussion.
Which is pretty lame. Comply or you have something to hide. Great talking points.
only people will complain or wont comply if they have something to hide.. its a simple premise and a sound one.. if you dont agree you cant say "pretty lame".

I got nothing to hide go ahead Nextel18, I give permission to look at my record.
Unlike you I value what privacy I have as well as my right NOT TO HAVE THE GOVERNMENT SPY ON ME W/OUT A WARRANT.
enough with the caps-please.
the Gov already spies on us what does it make a difference if they are just going to have the phone records to make some analysis?
i see no problem.

Fine, sorry about the caps.
You continue to say it's okay for the government to this. It's pretty funny, considering we just removed a dictator for doing the same thing.
Nextel18 had a few points:
#1: We're at war!
#2: Only people who have something to hide need worry.
#3: Terrorists are in the US right now!
...wait a minute, I'm missing the point then. It's unconstitutional for the GOV to tap into my personal space because it violates the fourth amendment on privacy? That's just one point.
Nextel18 had a few points:
#1: We're at war!
Really, so that gives the government the right to do what it wants, nevermind the constitution, bii of rights, and the geneva covention.
#2: Only people who have something to hide need worry.
I got nothing to hide. I rent, drive a car, have a job, and go to college. Like I said, if u don't believe me, I'll be glad to assist you in getting the info about me. It's funny when someone expresses thier right disscent they're imdiatly suspected of having something to hide.lol ...

I guess the rest of 'em must have left after that job well done...
It's not an issue of defending your rights, it's an issue of taking a pragmatic approach to explaining your rights. A lot of things have changed in the way we (GOV/USA) do business since WWII.

enjoy!
Look, I would like to continue this, but I got to go to work. I do look forward to your rebuttal when I get home.

oh come on... it is like you have something to hide without complying with the GOV. come on.

Former Sen. Joe McCarthy agrees with you too.

"Verizon Wireless spokesman Jeffrey Nelson definitively said his company was “not involved in this situation.” His counterparts at Cingular — an AT&T/BellSouth joint venture — and Sprint Nextel Corp. were less explicit and did not deny any participation."
I hate the media in this country, it sucks!!! They report half truthes and get many people all angry, scared and upset about things that are not even true. If a reporter cannot be 100% certain that something is true they should not legally be allowed to report it. And if they do report something that ends up being untrue the media outlet that allowed them to report the story should ...

#1 As stated a billion times on this post it is NOT Verizon Wireless that is involved.
#2 The same people b*tching about their right to privacy are the same ones that are in the malls, groceries, and restaurants everyday blathering on their cell phones (on speakerphone so you can hear both sides of their incessant rambling) about their lives and talking about their best friends, sister's, brother's, boyfriend's, cousin's, uncle who has hemorrhoids while you are just trying to enjoy a nice cup of latte and relax. Privacy? HA!

How do you know it's the same people? I'm very private in my use of my phone, and I object to records being collected by the government without the normal steps being taken to protect privacy. Whether or not I have anything to hide is certainly n...
