Opinions please: 815, 8100, or a950

I'm looking for useful opinions, comments, and info (not flames) from those who have, have used, or tested any of the 3 phones mentioned above.

Related questions: Can the Motorola 815 use my existing Moto car and travel charger, connectors appear to be the same? Would be nice but not a deal breaker.

Note that the A950 appears on the Verizon web site for my area (Ga) today.

Thanks, M

The chargers are universal, so you are good to go there. And in my opinion the Motorola E815 will be your best choice out of the three phones you mentioned. The E815 has incredible call clarity and reception. Hands down the winner. Take advantage of the 15 day trail, see what works best for YOU.

What if that person has a Star Tac? Then it isn't universal.

What is your current Moto phone? The E815 is a great choice though. Reception, call quality, features. You won't be dissapointed.

The 815 is a great phone if the user can tolerate the locking up and resetting of the phone at least twice a day.

I believe that 815 owners will stick up for their phone - as will 8100 owners; however, since the 950 has just been released (with great potential) and there have thus far been no reviews - I would wait to see how that phone stacks up against the other two.

Know people who have both 815 & 8100. As posted by a previous poster, go and try the phone out yourself and see which one YOU like. Just like a camera...hold it, use it, make an informed decision! 🙂

That 950 does look pretty sweet...

As does the 970. I have the A610 so that 970 is like an insane version of my pretty basic phone.

Thanks for the responses, everyone!

I'm leaning towards the 815, as my v60 has been very faithful, except for the antenna. The 950 looks nice, but I can't see the extra $ 100 they're asking for it right now over the 815.

Just watch yourself. The 815 software tends to lock up and reset multiple times per day. I had it for 2 months and ultimately got it replaced with the 8100. The 8100 works great (but it has a volume bug that is supposed to be corrected with the next software update).

better watch yourself with that 8100, it is major piece of crap. I had one, it blew up in my face. Better be careful I think it's a common bug with all of them.

I agree I have the 8100 now and to be honest reception SUCKS!!!! I normally like LG but they did a horrible job with this ph. It also has that New interface and that is really not that nice. As soon as the nokia 6256i comes for Vzw I'm switching to it!!!!

i would go with the moto

you get better call quality and more reception with it.
samsung is just coing out with a phone with an internal antenna it still has to work out the kinks.
and the LG would be my second pick.

i would just buy the phone that works best in your area
