Change Phones keep Data?
Sorry if this has been answered, but my search didn't come up with an answer...at leat that I saw.
I currently have a family plan and my wife and I have unlimited data. I understand that we can keep it as long as we don't change our plan. Does that mean that we can swap out phones and still keep the plan?
thanks
...
You can change your plan you just can never drop your $29.99 data plan. If you do and then want to add data later you'll be subject to the tiered plans.
...
do you know if the rumors are true that you can only swap 1 time? I read somewhere that after 1 upgrade you are then forced to tiered?
...
My understanding is that it doesn't matter whether you're in or out of a contract or whether you upgrade or not. Any line that currently has unlimited data will keep that unlimited data as long as the data portion is never dropped. If you add another line to an existing family plan and the added device requires a data plan, it's my understanding that the new line will be subject to the tiered data.

Just to clarify, this applies to smartphones. If you move to a non smartphone, the data plan goes away.

Hi Epik!
Does it automatically drop if you activate a non-smartphone? I had to activate an old flip phone once cause my BlackBerry was stolen and the data plan stayed on for over a month and then I got a replacement BlackBerry and activated it.

A smartphone data plan stayed on a dumb phone?
...
Yes. And when I called I was told that it doesn't automatically drop which is strange because it's my understanding that if you try to add a smartphone it'll automatically add a data package.

I don't call CS for anything I can do via My Verizon. I just don't trust them. Bottom line: If you have an Unlimited Data plan NOW DO NOT switch it to a dumb phone. You will NOT get your data plan back.

Not sure how that happened. Even if you stick with the $30 data plan for feature phones, it's a different code from smartphones, and therefore subject to being changed (lost).
