I have the Droid X. I installed Gingerbread to see what its going to be like if/when it comes down from Verizon. To be honest I dont like it all that much. So.....I found a site with step by step instructions. I am gonna try and go back to 2.2 Froyo today.

Nope. I practice what I preach. Still (angrily) running around on a Fascinate rocking 2.1 because I don't trust firmware updates, hack or legit. I got burned a few times too many trying to "fix" my BB 9530. I'm totally out of that game and encouraging others not to play, either.

I've been using the 2.2 on my fascinate since is been available from VZW and not had any problems out of it. Runs smoothly, battery life is about the same and everything works as advertised.

Also changed the pin lock screen when attached to a corporate email account. The dial pad is now default for entering in the PIN instead of the swype keyboard. Much more convienient.

My connections inside VZW haven't reported any real changes except the UI, and I run ADW instead of TouchWiz anyway, so that hardly matters.

Still, I'm just paranoid. I have final exams this upcoming week and the last thing I need is smartphone drama. I'll upgrade my unit next Friday unless something disastrous pops up before then.

NP. I completely understand the paranoia. The firmware updates for the OG moto droid and the Eris were not handled very well at all.


A side note, i run ADW as well. do you notice a significant drain on the battery with that program, or is it all in my head?

I used stock TouchWiz for about 35 minutes before I loaded ADW, so I can't really compare battery life.

I will, however, say I got fed up with battery performance in general and put out the extra $50 for the extended life battery.

I used to keep my backlight brightness on 0% and still run dead by 3:00 in the afternoon. Now I keep it on automatic brightness and I can get to 10:00 at night and still have 30% left! Totally worth the $50 and doubling the mass of my phone.

The only other thing I can recommend to you is finding a background image that is comple...

yeah, thats the answer i was expecting. I change phones way to often to justify spending money on any accessories for any phone no matter how worthwile they are. I also enjoy customization way to much to have a black background.

Whats ADW and Touchwhiz?

Touchwiz is the standard launcher used by samsung on some of their smartphones, ADW is a 3rd party launcher that has more customization options.

Touchwiz blows.

If someone makes a rude comment and doesnt offer any help other than to criticize that's trolling and not adding anything useful to the topic which is over posting ad trolling. Yeah guys, I must admit don't just come in and start trouble especially if you don't have a clue as to whats going on, on here.
