Data plan pricing

Any speculation on what the pricing for the data plans for the iPhone are going to be? Do you think they'll be the same as other smartphones or will they be more expensive?

Verizon has made no mention of changing the data plans for the iPhone. Since it uses less data than most Androids, I don't see why it would be different. Lets here it for unlimited data on an iPhone!

I asked their PR person about this.

Q: When will plan pricing be announced for this phone [iPhone]?

A: Closer to launch.

I've seen indication that pricing may be different, but it's been left as a possibility rather than a given.

Personally, I think Verizon should do the right thing. If it's a 3G device, like any other 3G device, the data plans should be priced like a 3G device. The only thing I would probably agree with in changes for the iPhone would be only allowing unlimited. I can't see the benefit of 150MB on the iPhone, just like I can't see that benefit on an Android phone, either.

The 150mb is for people who want the iPhone just to have one. I still see a fair amount of people who use less than that on at&t. I bet they will have tiered pricing just like at&t.

If I could disable 3G on my Android and run it on 2G, I'd be perfectly fine with the 150 M...

Nope. I need my emails and IMs to come through constantly, and I can't be placed in a position where I have to remember to disable / enable my data connection every time my son picks up my phone.

That would theoretically work, but I can find no practical way to implement it.

I've looked and found apps that shut down the data connection automatically, but I can't have it shut down.

I need it to trickle.

Maybe there's an app called The Clap that could cause it to "trickle"...The Clap App!
