Show me some solid proof this will happen so that fanboys can stop prematurely busting their loads.

It bothers me why this is still such a hot topic. To be honest, with all the Andoid phones out there, it makes the iPhone less unique in the sense of the best phone out there. To me, it would be a toss up rather than a definite decision if this were to happen. Where to people get these speculations?

I hope the iPhone never comes to Verizon. It's a data hog and a half and I don't want those Apple addicts on my network! Verizon's network is too good for the iPhone and all of its buggery, let AT&T keep it on their network, I could care less.

The Android platform consumes more data than any other platform. It's not by much more than the iPhone, but it is more.

i would be ecstatic to have the iPhone at VZW. it would make suuuuch good debates and hatred in this forum. android vs iPhone... who doesn't like a good knife fight? what person in this world doesnt like to throw gasoline on an open fire?

the best part of the rumors are the people who claim they are anti iPhone when in reality, there is a good chance that 1/4 of those people will end up getting one...

i am the type to say that i am not opposed to getting one or in favor... it all depends on what is out at the time and what my wallet wants.

where do you all REALLLY stand on this? besides, wouldnt this be the best valentines gift next to a night out with your current love interest? some would choose the phone

People with berries or dumbphones are most likely to want and will prefer the iphone. You're right in that respect. But I think people with android (who know how to use it) who give that platform up for Apple may find themselves very disappointed. Just my 2 cents.

I'm sure I'd end up getting on on my work line. I'll keep my Android on my personal line (95% of my use). If Verizon gets the phone, if they don't force me to use it on my company line, I'll request it so I'm more familiar with the device (which is how I've had dozens of smartphones over the years).

It's a good phone, despite my frustrations with news organizations, rumors, lemming-like dedication, and more. For me, Android works better (I HAVE used iPhones many times over the years).

If nothing else, the think I'm most excited about is the commission check the first month it launches, followed by my annual bonus the next year.

I would think that if its suppose to be availible that quickly that we would be getting some kind of training for it. When I last sold an iPhone they were very particular on how the phone was presented to the customer as well as the jargon for all that it does. I remember having a couple weeks of training on the device, and then having to pass a test so that we were able to carry the device and sell it. If its going to launch next month(even though they always launch in June or July), then we are already behind the 8 ball so to speak.

It is exciting. Like or not, the iPhone has a rapt captive audience, and they like to spend money on their products. We can call them sheep, or fanboys, but they are loyal to Apple and have no problem shelling out the big money for their products.

When I sold iPhones previously, the average sale was close to $700, phone, apple care, case, some other stuff and the next thing you know, you are hyperventilating because you have to read the customer the total. It was fun, and the commission made on them was fine by me.

I would like for it to happen, and if its going to happen next month, then fine. If it happens in June, fine. Just end the specualtaion one way or another.

I would prefer to deal with a complaining customer, than with no customer. I worked at Sprint for close to 5 years, I know all about customers complaining and wanting something for nothing. Verizon customers are nothing like Sprint customers, so hopefully I wont have to worry about getting shot in the parking lot(more a product of the area I worked in). We created these customers, we bent over backwards for years to get them everything they wanted for next to nothing, or in some cases free. So I cant really complain, I just smile and explain why I cant do what they want, and then tell them what I can do. If they don't like it, I am sure they can find another rep who will do it for them, and deal with the headache of their many return v...

Yes, I did notice the 14 day return change. The length was confusing. Earlier in my career with verizon, the return period was 15 days. Why not go back to 15 days? Why 14?

And then I made a leap... Apple ALSO has a 14 day return period...

More and more I'm starting to think that this could be the real deal. Still, we won't know until Tuesday.

...
epik

Jan 10, 2011, 10:07 AM
I think that logically, it makes more sense to be a WP& device rather than an iOs device. Given that there have been more statements from company sources on WP7 devices coming to Verizon and Sprint than there have been statements about an iPhone coming to Verizon, there's a greater chance for the WP7 device. Mind you, I'm referring to semi-official comments rather than innuendo. iPhone on Verizon has the lion's share of innuendo, where at least Microsoft admits that there will be WP7 devices on Verizon & Sprint in 2011.

Then again (sorry, I play devil's advocate a lot), if this were about an executive change, new WP7 or WebOS device, or most any device launch, why not cover it during CES? What can be so important that it would make se...

Surely they wouldn't spend a lot of time on a WebOS release? WP7 i can understand because microsoft has a lot of money to throw at the new release (nevermind the fact that WP7 has been overshadowed by the android and iOS anyway).

I think i'm just hoping its not the iPhone due to the fact that i'm an indirect and most likely not going to get the device, or at least much later than the corp channel. I have a hard enough time battling the internet and other corp stores, i couldn't bear to watch literally hundreds of posts walk in my door just to turn right around and leave again because my company isn't deemed worthy enough to sell Mr. Jobs precious device.

There's always a chance it's WebOS or anything else. It could just be a change in executive leadership. Who knows.

You would think that a WP7 launch would have been covered as one big event with LTE. Steal the show, so to speak, at CES. Or Microsoft could have covered it earlier in the week. Even WebOS could have been covered during CES. If nothing else, they could have sent out a press release and skipped the heavy semi-porn presentation music and obscene lighting.

As for the indirect side, I've been telling people something for years: you're always someone else's red-headed stepchild (RHSC).

Indirect has often beat our corporate stores in pricing. I can't think of a time where I haven't had to watch a customer walk out my...

I just thought of something... Verizon is about to release 4 major 4g android lte phones very soon so apple has to launch first because the iphone will not have 4g. How will a non lte high end iphone sell against a much better android army that does? They also expect to sell 8million iphones I dont think the can do that against tegra 2 androids so apple has to move now if they want those sales numbers on big red. 😎

Its simple. People will buy it. As an at&t rep we switch more people from verizon than any other carrier just for the iPhone. There will be a semi-mass exodus from at&t to verizon since apple built a crappy antenna for at&t as well as another internal switch from android to apple within verizon.

Verizon doesn't have to switch it's focus. People have been pining for the iphone on Verizon for so long that the press and word of mouth will move it. The iphone isn't for tech geeks. It is for grandmas and soccer moms and teenagers. Insult Apple fans all you will but the numbers speak for themselves.

I wouldn't say that the iphone isnt for tech geeks. its a phone. tech geeks are the ones who jailbreak every OS they put on the damn thing so that people who want to have more control over a phone can. same thing would go for any android phone. granted, the phone comes with customization options, but "the geeks" cracked that deal too. a phone is a phone is a gadget.

i am a huge gadget/tech junky. my wife would tell me that i have an unhealthy obsession. who on this forum is not obsessed with high tech stuff? seriously? especially for those who are regular posters.

id say that the iphone is a preference thing. its a solid phone w/ a stable OS. the hardware is very nice (minus antenna). i would have to say the people who buy the iphone...

Sorry. Did I offend you with my opinion? I'm not a tech geek and I am here all the time. That's not to say that a tech geek wouldn't buy an iphone. I'm sure some would. I compare tech geeks to baseball purists. Neither wants things to be dumbed down for the casual fan. I think that baseball and cell phones SHOULD be marketed toward the general public simply because there are more of them than purists or tech geeks.

I'm not offended by any means. I love a mix of opinions. Makes reading some of these threads more entertaining. I agree with you on your baseball/tech geek thought. I am a Red Sox fan (live in MA) and also a partial tech geek. If you think about it, the iPhone was designed for all types of people. Broad fan base. Android phones were created to compete with iPhone sales. It was also designed for all types of people but certainly better equipped for more audiences - physical keyboards, screen sizes, prices. So I guess there isn't a phone that the average consumer cannot operate. It's just that Android phones are the new kid in school and everyone wants to figure them out.
