The $70 plan you may or may not get...

In hearing that VZW is going to offer a $70 plan that includes 450 min/unlimited text/and data I became quite interested in how this was going to work...being the competitive person that I am.

Spoke with the online chat person: "We are not offering a plan like that."

Spoke with customer servcie: "We are currently offering that plan."

Spoke with a corperate store employee: "Only pre-screened customers will be offered that plan."

What to think that 3 different employees of Big Red with 3 different answers...

Has anyone else heard different or the same?

Should be more specific: "pre-screened existing customers."

You do not go thru regular customer service for this promotion. You call 877-873-3278 tell them you read it on the Wall Street Journal.

You also want to make sure you tell them that it included 5 Friends & Family for that price otherwise they will NOT give it to you.

Customer service says YES.

The online chat said NO.

The Rep in the Store says its for pre-screened existing customers. Basically NO.

As I new customer I would be kinda upset that I would not be able to get it since I got 2 no answers. I would trust a Rep in the store to know more than customer service/Online customer service...

Not exactly. Those promotional plans are typically only available to customer care reps. People in the store wouldn't have access to them.

The same is typically true of any special program. Retail stores are the red-headed stepchild of the business, so they usually don't get special programs like this.

It is an indirect exclusive, so you won't find it online, or in any stores. If you call customer service they won't know what you're talking about either.

Do no retailers offer it?

We still sell them by the bucketload.

You had the $69.99 450 minute w/ unlimited text and data plan in indirect? I only first heard about it in the last month or less.

No retailers sell it. And you right customer service has no idea what I am talking about and so corporate stores.

Weird.

Maybe they don't sell it because of price point? It's not a high profit phone for us like the Accolade was, but it is better selling that than having people get one of the promotional "free" phones that they don't understand most of the features for.

No one in their right mind would give that kind of power to commissioned reps. EVERY customer would end up with the promo because the reps would use it as a closing tool.

I called 877-873-3278 spoke to a lady named Carmen and she said the promo leaked out when it shouldn't have, there for anyone that calls and wants the promo can have it.
However, it does not include the 5 friends and family and it does extend your contract with them 6 months but it does not keep you from being eligible for another phone, your phone upgrade date will remain the same!
I saved $20 a month now, Thanks to everyone that posted this! 😁

What area code?
...

The answer is that only select customers (which you can read as "pre-screened and current") have access to this plan in very specific markets. I am not aware of which markets are included.

I cannot control the fact that people who don't have access to it know nothing about it, or claim it isn't real. It's easier to deny the plan than admit that you don't know where it's applies, leaving a customer high and dry.

Have you not seen the articles on BoyGeniusReport or Engadget?

Why read 3rd party articles when I can go straight to the source? But apparently the source isn't good either. Or as normally, deny everything...but I don't know. My only issue would be as a potential customer why could i not get this plan when aparently everyones talking about it. Its kinda bad press when you leak something and the masses can't get it. I'm just curious to the opinions that people have to it. Not the plan itself but the way VZW has gone about the leakage?

Someone got the email and decided to share it with everyone to look famous to his buddies.

Companies run test plans like this ALL THE TIME.

In fact, there was one a few months ago where if you lived in the pacific NW, you could get a plan that was EXACTLY like sprint's.

This plan DOES NOT EXIST unless you are in the test market. That's why you can't get it. People've been talking about a Verizon iphone for years too, but you still can't get one. People talking means nothing.

Don't blame Verizon because people decided to post an email online without the corresponding small print.

Well, I'm not sure about the "leakage" but as epik says, there are certain test markets going for many different promotions and they test those markets for a reason. For example, In the Memphis area they are currently running an any mobile, anytime promotion if you have a 901 area code. You can't get that promotion unless you have that area code.

I remember when I lived in Utah, there was a test-market plan in Idaho for 1000 minutes, unlimited mobile to mobile and nights and weekends, for $39.99. It was to rival the old 1000 minute plan on T-Mobile. The only reason we knew about it was because the southern Idaho area was part of our region, and some Idahoans would come in looking for it (in northern Utah).

So, because Joe Schmoe who doesn't care about his job leaks information to the web, the company is at fault?

Verizon doesn't leak, it releases (as in press release).
