Gotta love, bluetooth for certain profiles, does not support obex.

Have anything to do with the v710 lawsuit possibly. 😈

Wonder if it will have evdo.

Probably not.

I think they should skip this model, get an obex bt (not gonna happen i know) and get evdo support on it. with a 1mp ccd camera, this would make me happy, i would buy one up to 499.99 w/ a contract

OBEX is a bluetooth feature that enables full file and data transfer via bluetooth.

EVDO is a high speed data network that utilizes the CDMA 2000 network.

As long as we have GIN applications, I wouldn't get your hopes up for anything supporting OBEX unless of course for phone book transfers, etc.

You can't you get free songs from Napster anymore. Why? because the artists don't make profit when people download or share pieces of their material...

We would be glad to pay a premium for a Bluetooth phone, and don't give a damn about GIN apps. You can say it 64,000 times but you are trying to imply that anyone who wants Bluetooth is just being cheap or is a petty thief, which is incorrect.

The company that will win in the end is the one which does the best job focusing on their customers and their unique wants. At this point Verizon is winning the day.. - SPCVZNJeff

Is that statement a joke or what? Thats a Verizon Rep..They say the winner will be the carrier who caters to the UNIQUE wants and needs of the customer. don't see anything but excuses and custom

I just want the usual Bluetooth features. Dial-up networking (paying whatever is the agreed upon Verizon cost for data, no we're not "cheap"), Car synchronization, File transfer for contacts, photos, rings (no not stolen, no not GIN-limited choices).

We both know WHY Verizon disabled Bluetooth, to force GIN usage. But it's offensive to imply that we're cheap or thieves to want it. It's about the free-market choice to use our phone features. We have no problem paying Verizon for their network services or GIN apps or rings, and we're not going to steal them.

I'm a Verizon customer. Believe me or not. But ultimately I think it's even in Verizon's best interest to offer full-featured phones. They have reception in certain areas in the West...

the 710 has a trans flash card for Mp3 ringtones, the 710 has car sycnhronization, you can transfer files withe the trans flash card.

did you ever read your user manual before making judgements???

1. I don't have a V710. Why would I buy a crippled phone? On other carriers I can get a full featured phone

2. You're talking about workarounds and other excuses. Verizon cripples the Mobile Office Kit (at least for Nokias) to disable transfers. I heard in newer firmware versions they were disabling some transfer features of the flash card on the V710. V710 does not have full OBEX car synchronization, just the slower, more limited version, so does not fully support all BT cars. Yes there are some hacks and other ways to get around the blocks. Why not just enable BT (we know why) if you can do all this anyway? Maybe they just haven't gotten around to disabling all workarounds.

What do you have to lose by admitting why they disabled BT? ...

you completely missed my point. I asked what puts our 710 at such a large disadvantage over other bluetooth phones, and nobody could think of any HUGE advantage, including you.

You're now back to claiming we are asking to get things for free. We've gone full circle, and are done.

Forget about it is right. The NApster analogy (excuse) is lame. Downloading music free is ILLEGAL and has gone through the courts. NO COMPANY can offer free MP3 songs. Why aren't the ringtone providers suing the carriers that offer OBX file transfers. However VErizon is going to have their day in court as well regarding the BT issue.

Its not about the content. Its about the transfer of that content. Evidently Verizon needs those pennies so much more than other Carriers.

For a company that claims so much profit and success I can only come to the conclusion its pure greed at the expense of customer satisfaction. They are a couple points ahead in that area, They can afford to lose a few customers over the issue,

No other carrier I k...

To fully understand Bluetooth, you must read this:

I remember around 1997 when I visited Europe, America was the leader in technology in so many areas, including personal computers and electronics, and it is disappointing to see how that position has changed so quickly.

I have so many customer's just waiting for the 650 to become available on the Verizon network. Most of us have the Samsung i600's which are fine but it doesn't cover all the needs that we have as professionals. The bluetooth technology is the key option with this phone. Having loose wires hanging down is just cumbersome and dangerous in some instances. I can't wait until this phone is live.
