Has anyone ever..

Been able to talk a rep into bypassing the mail-in rebate, instead, having them give you the instant rebate as if it were an online purchase? I'm going to buy the Curve tomorrow (I know the Tour is a month away) and I'm signing up for a 1 year contract. I really don't feel like paying $240 when it's only $170 online (single year contract). So has anyone been able to do this or is this totally out of the question?

Thanks.

you might be able to get it done if you complain enough. But I would just order it online.

This really depends on where you get it. If it was at one of the stores in my company, the answer would be no. The reason being is that as indirects we don't have a way to recoup the losses, so we would basically be taking a $70 hit on the phone, and one year contracts don't pay that much to begin with.

You might be able to get it at a corp store, but it's better just to pay the money up front.

Rebates take about 2-3 weeks to come through, so it's really not that bad.

Better off ordering online. Complaining about it in the store won't work.

Better off supporting your economy and buying it from someone who will get paid...and in turn they will be able to pay that income back into local businesses. In other words, it only takes a couple weeks for a rebate. Heck, I can even bill the phone to your cell phone account, so it would give you enough time to mail off the rebate.

If you have an issue with the phone will you just call customer care or come into a store? Probably ask someone to fix the issue in person...so buy the phone in person. Best way to go!

Preach on man, preach on! I hate when people buy stuff on the faceless interwebz, then come in and ask me to activate, fix, or phonebook transfer. Only thing I can think about the whole time that person is in front of me is how much I'd like to explode their head. 😈

No. Telesales might match it, but not direct stores. Discounting for such a purpose would likely go against the store managers's MBO. The reason Verizon pushes online ordering by making it more attractive is because it is cheaper for the company.

Also ANY manual discounts added by CS requires sup approval. Supes have been told to deny and additional equipment discounts. The best way to go is to bill to the account and when you rcv the rebate card (2-3 wks) just make a $50 payment to your account and ditch the card...
