Hey everybody I currently have an iPhone and I am switching to Verizon and I want to keep my iPhone. Will I be able to access the app store from Verizon's network or will the speeds be slower than AT&T's "3g".

Our network does not support GSM, only CDMA. If you want a phone like the iPhone you can get a BlackBerry Storm.

Sorry that a idiot at att told you that you could use your phone on verizon or sprint (both cdma), but no you cant. And bb storm is a cool phone, but i think the omnia might be more like the iphone IMO.

Guess what? You were told wrong! WCDMA and CDMA are two different things that are not compatible with each other. AT&T's platform is GSM, which uses a SIM card. Verizon's is CDMA, which does not. Even if some of Verizon's phones use a SIM card, it is for overseas travel ONLY, as the Verizon phones will only utilize CDMA here in the States. All of AT&T's phones will not work on a CDMA network, as Verizon's phones will not work on AT&T's. They are simply incompatible with each other.

If you're coming to Verizon, you're going to be getting superior service. There are phones that come close to what the iPhone is, and there is some chatter about a CDMA version down the road. If you want to continue to use your iPhone now, you're stuck...

And there is the Achilles heel of the iphone. It's almost like the very name iphone should have a asterisk behind it.

I don't know that Verizon has any phone that is like your Iphone. Would love to have you aboard, but I believe in setting realistic expectations. If I were you, I would go into a corporate store and play with some of the phones. The obvious comparison is going to be the Storm but there are others that are comparable, but NOT the Iphone. If you still think you want to leave AT&T I would suggest that you not port your number in from AT&T immediately. Instead, activate a new line of service with Verizon and keep your AT&T service active. Try the Verizon phone out (you have a 30 day Worry Free Guarantee period which means if you cancel service you will not be subject to an Early Termination Fee but you will be responsible for service charg...

Why a corporate store? Why not an indirect, do they have different phones?

No, indirect phones have the exact same phones. I would go to an indirect store, where the service is almost unanimously better. If you're anywhere near Cellular Sales stores, go there. To find a location near you, go to CellularSales.com. If you're confused about the differences, go to both corp and indirect and find out which one you prefer, as there are two very different styles of service.

Yea I get it. I was just asking the poster why they said Corporate specifically. You don't need to sell me wank.

My corporate store has about 50 different models to chose from. I've never seen more than a dozen at any indirect, and most of them are lucky if they have ten to chose from.

And yes, I still sell every phone. Some are more popular than others, but we still sell the slower ones. Indirect stores aren't going to bother with slow-moving overhead.

Stores mess things up period... they always make empty promise and tell you to call CS and they will add it. As long as stores are driven by commission they are going to think sales first.
