Blackberry Storm among top 10 flops in 2008
I never said I told you so......but I told you so. Verizon simply is not on the leading edge of the phone side of things. Never were. apparently never will be.
Also, I thought it was interesting that mobile me was #3 on that list....which is an iphone related product...and the iphone is on att...which I heard you're a fan of 🙂
I also don't think the G1 shouldve been on that list. That device is very new, and yes, it has its bugs. But google did a pretty good job for their first time building an OS. No way the G1 was a flop...hell I just read that they might sell over 1 million units before the end of the year.

I do have to say, that RIM did completely botch this release. For their first ever touch screen they should have delayed it till the software was flawless. The bad press they got by shoving it out the date was very damaging.

As for the touchscreen fad...sadly in this country, once it catches on...it'll be here for about 10 years or so. What's interesting is the LG vx9600 that's coming with "attachments". So now you have to carry a bag of accessories with your phone.

I was starting to wonder where you vanished too. Touchscreens do work with the screen protector you just have to realize you have to get through it (and for some people they try too hard). I do agree with Chris that they rushed it WAY too much...it should have been perfected before pushed and there have been too many problems; however, the sales figures have also been up there (but that doesn't include returns and exchanges).

Blackberry Magnum is the codename for the bold like device with a touch screen....should be out before the end of the year for GSM networks.
If BB was to do something like that, it would sever alot of relationships they build with CDMA companies. I think this would be a bad move for them.
RIM can do whatever they want. And considering that they have the most popular smartphones in the world, I'd say that they have done a pretty good job of handling their "relationships"
I dont like their pattern of always releasing devices on GSM first, but hey, its working for them and Im not gonna be the one to judge em.

I think all of you who claim that this phone is a flop should wait until you see official sales figures. Also, remember this point, the issues with the Storm are mostly software related. The issues with the original iphone and iphone 3G were software related and rf related. The Storm's main problems are lag and freezing, both of which are obviously software related issues that can be fixed. Other than that, it's really a great phone, and just up to you if you like the touch screen. I for one, love the touch screen on the Storm, and I also own an Iphone, it's just different than the Iphone. But, now take a look at the Iphone, it originally had problems with the screen, and still has issues with dropped ca

I went down to the local Verizon store and they had the Storm there. The Storm felt cheap, and I hated the clicking sound. I really can not see what the big deal with the Storm was, you can keep. If Verizon gave a free one I'd stay "no thanks".
In the future, I prefer a qwerty board and NOT a touch screen.
i agree they botched the release, and the software, but it didnt fail.
when the phone is working good, it is wonderful, and when the phone isnt working as good, its not great. but better then my old dare, though, i wont say its better then an iphone, different. the screen on my storm works better then my friends 2nd gen 16gb ipod touch.

cant use in a quiet room? come on. its just as loud/quiet as the curve in my other hand, and less quiet then the keyboard on my computer.

This is just a straight lie!! The screen on the storm is nowhere near even close to that of the touch or the iphone.. Get real...

How would you know? Do you HAVE one? I do and I love it, I bought it the day it came out and haven't looked back since. The critics will say what they will, but people that actually own the phone have a different story.
Yeah these days not many people will admit or take responsibility for screwing up......Cell Phone insurance makes that evident

lmao
so sad.
Now, if I liked touchscreens I'd have to say that I would love this device. The Storm tops over the any touchscreen phone (i.e. iPhone, Dare, Treos, Omnia, etc) in terms of everything. I haven't owned any touchscreen devices, but I have played with them a lot. The only things I like different on other devices is VCast (on standard VZW touchscreen phones) and I loved the iPhones web browser (when on wifi, AT&T 3G is overhyped and slow).
But, to me all these phones are a flop because there is no perfect touchscreen phone. You are bound to run into typing issues, which is why I st...

You have no cred to be commenting on touch screens. 🙄
When I worked for VZW they had a program for employees where we could essentially borrow phones to play around with for up to 45 days. I tried the Dare, Glyde, Voyager, Treos, etc. Really, nothing special on touch screens.
And I love how your "source" claims it was returned by the droves. Reputable site there, spreading rumors over fact, since VZW has not officially released any numbers on sales or returns yet.
The bashing didnt work, people still bought it and are buying it like crazy. I cant keep a single one in my location, everytime I get more they are gone the same day. Figures it would be avg joe coming here reporting this since he is the biggest basher known to man. Have fun with your Noki...

I got paid HUGE off this device, best pay outs commission wise I have seen in a very very long time.
Thanks RIM
I might relist it after folks start seeing there tax returns or if the government issues another stimulus check. maybe by then another VZW authorized patch will have been released.
Good luck...craigslist might be another option, its free and you might catch someone looking for a storm.
and selling it is hilarious, the newest software makes it perform better than ANY touch screen device out there.

You guys think anyone site that writes anything negative about VZW or BB is an iPhone fanboy site.. 🙄
not exactly, but if it makes you feel better than sure....now go take a hike.

Wow. Does that ever really work? Telling someone who don't agree with to "take a hike"? I mean you do it all the time, yet don't seem to have the mental grasp that you have absolutely no impact on anyone when you say that and it is simply a waste of time? I guess you have a lot of it to waste.
Do you not understand how pathetic and futile a remark like that is? I have 20 lines through my company that I manage through VZW, so, I think I have as much right to post here as you and probably more credibility since I am not a fanboy like you and can look at carriers devices and services with some objectivi...

I prefer the Omnia... Windows finally got it right with that one. The only draw back is the screen resolution other then that it destroys the Storm/Iphone and many other models out there.
Omnia's touchscreen sucks, not even comparable to the iPhone.. Not to mention the Omnia freezes up..
Not to mention I can't use bluetooth stereo on your precious Iphone and I use that all the time in my car.

knowing the storm was a flop when u first heard about it huh? u should play the lottery.

just because you got fired doesn't mean that AT&T sucks.
That's a little out of line, isn't it? This reads as a personal attack rather than a relevant reply.
