so every time a customer loses their phone and requests the last call phone number, i say i can't disclose that over the phone. they always ask why bec "it's my phone!" i only have 1 answer for them: it's a law, and we legally cannot disclose them.

what else can i say? anyone know the actual reason?

I just say due to FCC regulations we cannot release call detail over the phone and it's the same (well at least supposed to be) for wireless and landline carriers. I also apologize and offer to send them out a bill or they can view it online.

The actual reason is that there is no way we can know who we are speaking to. If it is that big a deal, all they need to do is register for My Verizon and look it up themselves. And if they complain that they do not have a computer...apologize profusely (you know pucker up) and tell them that we are only doing it for their protection. Half the time it is a spouse trying to catch their mate cheating and doesn't have the guts to confront them and instead want to sneak around. Can you imagine if text details were available via My Verizon? The divorce rate would skyrocket amongst VZW customers and MANY a young kid would be grounded until they were twenty-one.
