Why bother with the pearl and curve?
This pricing point may be nice, but unlikely at launch atleast. I could see it going that way if you were a switcher and were mailed a promotion. Free phone to those that left VZW for the iPhone and now have gotten over that new toy feeling/buyer's remorse.
