I been a customer for almost 11 years and was going to take advantage of my NE2 to get the Dare.
It turns out I can't without changing my plan which I was told to never do by previous VZ people. I really don't see why they can't issue a credit for the difference to me and put me a plan that will let me get that phone. They say they can't do that but they have done it for me in the past and given me 100 bonus min a month too. With that I would be willing to give it up and pay more for the Vcast. Of course they did offer the 500 min bonus for agreeing to one year. I am obviously out of contract and I know VZ has the best service but I don't like being told something isn't possible if it really is. Anyone have any luck in getting this recentl...

if you don't want to change your plan then don't get a new phone. i don't work for verizon but most cell companies have quirky rules here and there and if it requires you to change your plan, then the plan is either better for you or required for the new device. again, i'd just not get the phone if you are happy with the plan.

There is no possible way to get the Dare on your old plan. You must migrate to the Nationwide plan set when if you want a phone that has the enhanced web brower, like the dare and voyager. More and more phones are going to be required to move to the Nationwide plan set.

For most people there is little to be concerned with moving to the new plan set. The major difference is all data usage is billed at $1.99 per Megabyte. If you download ringtones, games, apps, to the phone from the phone you will incur data charges as if you were using the mobile web. It sucks. I know it does. But it is the way it is. Even employees MUST move their existing lines to the nationwide pricing by 8/31.

At least customers get a choice. Verizon still sells phones which do not require the Nationwide plan. Employees are being FORCED to change to Nationwide by 8/31/08. Back in March, they were like "any feature changes or equipment upgrades or new activations will require all lines transitioning to Nationwide pricing" (easing the d*ck in) Now they are like "all employee lines must transition to Nationwide pricing by August 31 or face interuption of service (straight up brutal rape) This is going to be much like analog service was for most carriers. The problem is that way back when, when data usage was small they should have separated the billing of the two rather than bill data as voice usage. It never made sense to bill data that way. ...

When I started with the company I had 500 minutes for $12.50 a month. Now I pay $45 for 700 minutes (Select plan) on just one the first of the two lines in the family share. I now have two lines for the price I once paid for four single 500 minute lines, and had no choice but to migrate or be suspended (I'm sure they'll charge the $15 reconnect fee when its migrated to Nationwide).

My price for two lines on 1400 minutes, both with unlimited text, a year ago was $1 more than my two lines on the current 700 Select plan with employee discount.

Granted, I always pay less than a regular customer for monthly service, and always pay more for a phone than customers. But still, customer's aren't being strongarmed into new plans, they still h...

What kind of plan change are they asking you to make? You can get them to do pretty much anything if you use the right words and stay calm. I wasn't due for my NE2 upgrade until November but I got them to let me upgrade now. The sales rep in store gave me tips on how to act towards the customer service people over the phone and it worked.

Sad that you have to go that route and play their game, but it is what it is.

How big of a change in plans is it? If you want to have the phone that has more features, you gotta get a plan that offers those features.

You can't go to a Ford dealership and ask for something with a Honda motor because you've driven a Ford for the last ten years.

If you're on an older price plan then you need to change to Nationwide pricing to get the Dare. If you're going to get the Dare you'll probably be using VCast and probably VZ Navigator and texting a lot...so get the Premium Plan and be set. It's not that big of a deal. If you don't plan to use any of those things but VCast, then get a Decoy or Chocolate 3 or anything lower.

Want and need are very different things.

Amen brother...

People need to keep in mind some phones require certain plans.

I always hated the customers that came in to buy the BB and didn't want a data plan... why the hell are you getting a BB if you're not getting a data plan?

Then they get mad when you tell them it has to have a data plan attatched to it.

It's like getting the iPhone without the data plan, all it becomes is an ipod that can make phone calls. pointless.

If you don't want to use the bells and whistles on a phone, tell the Sales Rep what you plan on doing with your phone, and they will be more than happy to assist you in finding the best phone that meets your needs.

I've seen that happening a lot lately. The stores activating these phones on America's Choice but it adds the national access block, this blocks all internet access and pix/flix messaging. When customers call in about not being able to do that stuff, when we try to remove the block it gives us an error message that we have to change the price plan to Nationwide

Half of the problems for call centers is because of the screw up done at the stores because they litterary push the product at customer without looking at the later consequences. Namely putting a Nationwide calling plan phone on a America's Choice.

any phone with an HTML web browser uses alot of DATA on the network. thats why they cant just have minutes of use billing with all that data going on, it has to be by the MB so people pay for what they use or get vcast.

If you were able to use the web on the Dare with the America's Choice plan, you were most likely going to call customer care to inquire why do you have over $500 in overage fees since it would drain your minutes faster than you think.

didnt know there was such a plan. nationwide 900 is only 4.99 more. and it has no roaming charges anywhere in the US (old AC has roaming spots). check how much mins you use it may not even be an issue.

if you do not want to let go of your plan my advice is to not get one of the three phones (chocolate 3, dare, voyager I think..) that make you go to nationwide.

Its not customer cares fault that they just dont like you or value your business, its not a choice. if you activate that phone the system will not let it happen on AC pricing. its not possible

The Glyde needs to be on Nationwide too. You can activate the phones on the AC plans BUT none of the data functions will work (pix/flix messaging, Get it Now and internet) also you will have a hard time finding someone that will do it partly because we aren't supposed to and because most don't know you can. If you cant use any of the data functions on those phones what is the point of having it? Looks will only get you so far...

Just because a carrier did it "in the past" doesn't mean they can afford to cater to your wishes every single time you say so.

And the plan and phone aren't compatible with one another.

Plans change, prices change, because the economy changes. If you can't afford it, there are plenty of other phones tog et.

Verizon Wireless has always had to change with the times. That is what Nationwide plans are designed to do. The world is now moving in the "data" direction and in order for VZW to be successful, they will need to follow suit.

I remember years back when txting began, we had to start selling messaging bundles. I thought to myself "why in the world would anyone need this? it is just silly". I also remember selling my first $5.00 txt bundle and being thrilled about it. Take a look at where we are now! txt messaging is so huge now that many customers dont need calling plans anymore. A family of five often times doesnt even need the bottom end plan of 700 minutes.

Granted, you will always have customers who just merely want a phone for just...
