Calling Plan Question

I presently have the Americas Choice II Family Share plan with 500 minutes. My obligation to this contract ended last October. When I went to upgrade to the Moto Z6tv I was told that I would also be required to upgrade to a Nationwide Basic plan. The Nationwide plan I was considering was an extra $10 per month, but was also for 700 minutes instead on the 500 minutes I have now. The problem is I never use all 500 minutes that I have now, so I can't justify buying more minutes that I will never use. I also do about 5 text messages per month, so I don't need a texting plan.

This is my question. I recently stumbled upon a great deal on a refurbished Z6tv. If I purchase this phone, will I be able to activate it without upgrading to the ...

You don't have to change to the Nationwide plan when you upgrade, unless you upgrade to the Voyager. We want you to, but you are grandfathered.

Maybe it was my misunderstanding, and not a misinformed rep. I did originally enter the store looking at the Voyager. In the end I decided against the Voyager because of its larger size. I like small phones that fit into my pocket. The Z6tv seemed to have similiar capabilities, but in a smaller package. I acknowledge that the Voyager has the full keyboard and html browser, but I don't text a lot or mobile surfing on the net. I am glad to know that my current plan is grandfathered. I must not have caught that I could keep my current plan with the Z6tv. Thanks to the experts on this forum.

Any thoughts on the Z6tv. I am in airports frequently so mobile TV seems neat.

First off, you do not have to switch to nationwide plan. the rep was misinformed.

Second, we have a 59.99 nationwide plan.
Its called the Nationwide Loyalty 550 family share plan. 59.99 first 2 lines, 9.99 additional. it gives you 50 free minutes and the same price. you can go to that plan if you want.

If I were you I would call *611 and have them put you on that plan, and then either order the phone thru cust care and have it shipped FEd Ex or go back to the store after plan changes and get your phone.

Yeah, but the loyalty plan is not available at the stores (well, that depends on what you know) but it's generally only available through Care.

But what you said is true.

Does the Loyalty Plan allow you to get the Voyager? If I go into a corporate store, would I be able to get this plan? If I call customer service, how can I get this plan because they all seem to say it doesn't exist.

Thanks in advance for your help.

All of Customer Service can place you onto the Loyalty plan, the stores; however, can but can't. They are not a division that is supposed to add the plan, but they do have access to it. All Customer Service accessible by *611 is able to add the Loyalty plan, despite what they might tell you.

And as stated elsewhere, the Voyager is able to go on the loyalty plan. The Voyager can be added to any Nationwide plan, regardless of cost.

The stores can do it also, bot not everyone realizes they can. We are allowed to do it (indirects) our account manager told us we no longer had to call into care to swich customers to that plan. It is in eROES. We didn't know it was there for a long time though until our account manager told us it was.

😁 Thank you to all that commented about the Nationwide Family 550 Loyalty plan. I called today and was able to change my plan through the marketing department without extending my contract. I was first told by customer service that this couldn't be done because I wasn't near the end of my contract, but she was very nice and transferred me to the marketing department. I wish there was a way to report how nice both people were when I called in get help.
