I received an email stating that all personal days and vacation days are cancelled. That there will be a big anouncement on Feb 18th. Anyone know? 👀

Not sure if that is true for time off but Analog Shutdown is the 18th. Guess they wanna see if there is any fallout from shutting down the old network.

While it wouldn't be appropriate to be mentioning custoer or number i can say that several of the in car security and service companies originally released analog only systems in a LOT of vehicles and those vehicles are still on the road and they had service cotracts with sev eral of the big companies.

On top of that some of the public saftey customers (police fire and ambulance .. we all have those kinds of customers.) may till have some analog device out there. And there are some die hard grandmas and grandpas .. lets face it back in the day hardware was made to last and some of those ancient analog phones are still kicking.

I just did an analog conversion 2 days ago. Very nice old lady, $15 plan, 300 min, unlimited nights & weekends plus m2m.

She kept the same plan, just upgraded the handset.

Actually I thought that was the 19th? FCC gives permissions on the 18th and Verizon is doing it effective the 19th?

While I never had analog only service, I have a tri-mode phone sitting around by my computer. I relied on analog occasionally when I used this phone. I plan to charge it up to see when analog actually gets shutoff in my area. My area will be analog free since Verizon & at&t have the cellular licenses. If any area in Indiana keeps analog on past the February 18th date, it's USCC for the few areas they have 800 band coverage. Otherwise Verizon, at&t, and Centennial Wireless will be shutting off their analog service in Indiana.

there is alot of speculation on what the anouncment will be....Last time verizon made evryone work they changed they price of add-a-lines for family plans from 20.00 to 9.99...so good chance they might announce some new plans...as far as the retirment of analog being the big announcment, its already been announced so they wouldnt be so secretive of it. Another possibility is something dealing with the open network, like being able to use sprint and altel phones on our networks. wouldnt it be fun to sucker punch the guy that is on his knees begging for his life (sprint!). Another possibilty is Verizon is buying out a company but there is no news on the FCC website and no way Verizon would be able to keep that quite! i Guess we will have ...

I wonder if it has anything to do with technicians adding antennas and towers into a market for Verizon that verizon currently does not own any spectrum. Makes me think Verizon has made an aquisition.

A friend signed up for some training about the 18th announcement, I think it was from sales. The information was vague though and he wasn't able to get any training times before the 18th, so I still won't know. So...something from sales that they want to give call centers training on.

I agree it's unlikely to be analog, it's a known issue so there's no reason to be secretive.

The open network bit shouldn't be it yet though because VZW is scheduled to give the phone manufacturers until the end of June (I believe) to comment/give specs. Easy activation of Sprint/Alltel phones is a good bet, I know we're supposed to be getting more information on that topic.

I suspect either new info on activating sprint/alltel phones or possibly ptt changes. there's been hints on both for awhile now, but no actual info. whatever, kudos for sales/marketing for being able to keep the secret.

Check it out VZW call center reps and store reps. The reason you are not going to get off on Sunday the 18th or 19th for some is due to the fact that you are going to recieve training for the new UNLIMITED CALLING PLANS that VZW is going to be introducing. Seems kinda redundant seeing how we just got updated calling plan codes for Nationwide calling plans a couple months ago. But anyways that is why.

Now you don't have to wonder why no supervisor would answer the question of "Why do I have to come in when I had off?.

On the 19th Verizon is releasing unlimited anytime minutes for a 100 buxx and want to make sure every rep knows what that means since if one talks to 10 reps, you get 10 different answers.

Wow $100 bucks for unlimited minutes - that's pretty good. What's the catch? Are they doing this to stave off the Sprint talk about doing this?

I don't doubt it. I know business people that have put up with wretched Nextell reception for years because they were the only ones (around here?) offering that kind of plan.

There is no catch. There will be a difference with family share plans though. If you want unlimited calling to anyone on any company including landline for the family share plan, each line will be 99.99. This does not include anything else besides Unlimited minutes, no roaming charges in the USA and no long distance charges.

There are premium and select plans available for the unlimited min calling plan, but of course that is extra.

99.99 PER LINE on a Family Share plus 99.99 for the primary line? That makes no sense. If you're paying 99.99 on the primary and have to pay another 99.99/line for each additional line you're better off with individual accts so you can get the NE2 credit on all phones.

well, if your paying $99.99 per line than the NE2 credit would be applied since it's any line on a plan $34.99 or higher, unless they change the policy now. basicly they are saying there are no family plans for this just indivuidual lines on 1 account. however, i doubt verizon is going to go unlimited talking straight up for $99.99, If they do it at all it would prob be $149.99. and you get add a lines for like $50?? maybe more resonable. I really think this is a lot of BS though

Whatever it is it won't be worth it except for very few who have a phone glued to their ears.
WE SHARE 550 and still have nearly 2000 roll over minutes in our account for $50 a month for TWO phones!! Just don't make that many prime time calls. Business people may like it though.

I mean 1500 minutes is 25 hours a month on the phone!!! Yikes. 3000 minutes is OVER A WORK WEEK on the phone. Who talks that much on a phone except a teenager?

Unlimited minutes is a non event. Suncom has had here for years for a total cost of $59 bucks including junk fees. ATT will offer the same though so anything Verizon does ATT will do and vice versa. Competition is a good thing.

AvgJoe..... you contradicted yourself there. if it wont effect too many people why does it matter if att gets it??!?!?!?

You obviously think its a sweet deal if they do roll out with it.

Im all aout att but 99.99 for unlimited talk? that will bring a lot of customers.

i see people paying it, they will pay crazy amounts of $$$ to avoid those overages, that's why the unlimited text plans are so popular. especially for parents bescause they have forgot how to parent, by seting limitaions and having consequences. they want the companies to do all the parenting for them. Everything has parental controls on it now so it's like you don't even have to pay attention.
