HOW BAD ARE VERIZON WORKERS?

apc874

Today I went into my vzw store and I was treated awful. The place was really dirty and the employees where incredibly rude. I run a small company. We have 10 smart phones and 5 lg phones. I was having trouble w my BB getting emails. After I waited in line for 20 min I got this guy who I don't think graduated high school help me. He said he didn't know how BB work and he would get someone else to help me. 15 min later I was still waiting. The first thing the next guy told me is that I should of bought a palm. I stopped the conversation right then and asked for a manager. 10 min later the manager helped. it took him less then 5 min to fix the problem. Does Verizon train there employees? You were probably speaking with people who were trained in SALES, not TECHNICIANS or DATA people. Why didn't you call into customer service, they could have probably helped you or at least transferred you to data.

Have fun with that. No matter what you need a cell phone to run your business, and no matter what someone is going to be there to take your money.

Threats of walking away to another carrier are thrown in my face every day, as they are in many other peoples' in this industry. It has become so cliche, that it is not even funny any more.

If what you experienced at one store, is the the broad generalization that you are going to take to the whole company. Then, please leave.

I'm sorry you had bad service but just because one store didn't give you the best service does not mean that the whole company is bad and that our network sucks. Really I think the network would be most important - What network gets the best quality service. I know that in my home town there are three corporate stores. At my kiosk I get people who have come from the main store complaining about how terrible the service was. But when I'm done with them, they are very happy. In the end they have the same VZW network, regardless of whether the rep gave good service or not.

I agree totally. The threat of going to at&t is old. Most customers do not want to go out and start new service with another carrier. If they do, they always come back because of the network.

I love being a 3rd party retailer. It's got benefits. As long as I'm nice to them, they can bash whatever carrier they want. I've got the solution here. Yahoo!

Verizon Wireless Customer satisfaction Survey.

This is huge in the area were I work. If you have a genuine issue with the store and do not know who to take it up with fill out the survey. It is only one question and then allows you to leave comments.

Just make sure you make a specific reference to the store you went to.

The higher ups in the company see this and make sure action is taken.

You know, for someone who runs a company, your grammar is atrocious! That aside, I am sorry your experience in ONE store was bad. I think you should try a going to a different location the next time you need help. I know that 2 of the stores in my area have TERRIBLE customer service, while the company I work for puts a major emphasis on our training and customer service. The "I'm going to a different carrier" is a tired argument that I am positive every sales rep is sick of hearing. Most people never transfer, once you add up the activation fees and whatnot it just ends up not being worth it. As far as that first employee that didn't know what to do to help you (and by no means am I defending their actions as a whole) should be commended fo...

You need to call customer service and speak with data support for this type of help. Sales reps and general customer service are only trained on activation and verifying the features are correct on your account to use the service. Some reps may know otherwise, based on having personally used the device themselves.

guess that is what seperates VZW from att, ATT employees are trained on everything, we don't need to have a seprate place to handle issues, teh person who sells you a phone can also explain your bill and triubleshoot your phone. This is not a knock against vzw, i think they have great coverage and will be the 1st att employee to admit that, but being a former vzw customer i can see teh differences between the two companies.

I have never had anything but class A service from both customer service and my local VZW store. I am starting to think that I am unique. Now of course I know now one ever hears about good service only bad, but some of these stories and the apparent attitude that VZW runs the only whore house in Vegas make me wonder how the churn stays so low. I know, I know, it's the network. Someday, somehow, VZW will get "real competition" with regards to the network, then what? I would hate to see ETF's used as a customer retention tool.

Thank you thank you for all the commits. Its been really helpful. I should of just called 611 but I work near a store. Don't you think that all the employees should know how all the phones work? I have been with verizon for many years and it is because of the network but the way I was treated yesterday is going to make me leave at the end of the month. Why would a employee tell me that I should of bought a palm phone. I called a ATT business rep this morning. ATT is going to waive all my activation fees and there going to save me at least $100 dollars a month. Its going to be interesting to see how the network is. I'm excited by all the great phones that they have. I might go with the tilt or a BB.

From personal experience, I don't get any training on the new phones that are released. There is online training for some phones (the last one that had official training was the 8830), but not all of them. My job is made easier by the fact that almost all of Verizon's phones have the same features.

Having said that, it's entirely possible that the person/people you spoke to have not been doing this for very long. It takes a while to learn all the ins and outs of everything.

I think that would not be a good business stand for verizon. Their turnover in the stores are high and if they spent the time and money to train them all in every phone and its features would not be good for them. That is why they have Tech support.

Perhaps employees should know but those devices are complicated and frankly very difficult to learn the ins and outs about. Many employees have a hard enough time with the basic phones.

There's no excuse for the rep who told you to get a Palm. And for the record, I don't think the Palm Treo is always a better device than the Blackberries.

I understand that employees aren't trained on phones. I work at an AT&T agent and the only reason I know well enough about phones is because I play with some of them during downtime or when a customer is getting a phone I'm unfamiliar with. The thing is I do my OWN self-training with phones because I would rather ALL business be conducted at my store then having them call an 800 number. In fact most of the time I call Customer Service FOR the customer to make them feel that I do appreciate their business. I've been treated very differently at Verizon stores. I have service with both carriers and if it wasn't for an ETF I'd only have AT&T.

It is the location that you have a beef with, not the whole company. You want to gripe about the STORE go for it, you want to gripe about the WHOLE company because of your experience at a STORE? Think about it, before you paint with such a broad brush.

You are complaining about 1 experience, and honestly if you want to leave vzw at the end of the month. Then leave. At&t should be able to port all of your numbers, and fit you into some decent phones.

You came in here posting the broad title of HOW BAD ARE VERIZON WORKERS? in the Verizon forum, and you thought that you weren't gonna hit some kind of resistance?

leave.

I agree with the previous poster. You have an issue with a couple of tore reps and then run at the mouth on how bad al vzw employees are. when in reality the base reason for your entire anger is that YOU can't understand the concept of a job function and that a retail sales rep probably won't function as a tech support rep for every phone the company has ever sold.

Don't let the Verizon reps scare you into believing that leaving will not affect them it will. The best way to make companies understand the value of their customers is have them leave because of poor service.

Also, blaming poor service purely on one location is also demonstrates a lack of attention to customer service. Every location and every employee needs to strive to provide the best service. Blaming this and that just demonstrates exactly what you suspected, that Verizon is not a company dedicated to excellent customer service. When an employee puts on your uniform and walks in to your facility (any one of them) they represent your brand.

If enough people talk with their wallets I guarantee Verizon will listen and service wi...

It won't. At&t's plans match against Verizon's almost identically, but they will hit you with the same stuff that Verizon does. If they are willing to waive the activation fees and all the other good stuff they normally stick you with then go already.

Make the switch, and end the discussion.

Get reality. It will do your mind a world of good. ๐Ÿ˜

This industry is largely static and not dynamic as you would like to beleive it to be. It is a well-known cliche in this industry that a customer will threaten to leave a carrier and go to someone else. You want to leave? I am not holding you here, but your contract is. 5 line family plan? You want to leave? Enjoy that final bill with all those ETFs on it, it is your money and not mine.

Just because you hold high expectations that no one can meet, or because some pimply-faced ass can't set up your Blackberry to save his life. Maybe reading some of that literature that came with your BB could have helped you? It could have, if you hadn't thrown it away. ๐Ÿ™„

It is incredibly unfair to base your opnion of the whole company off of one experience with a certain store. I'm sorry you had this bad experience but there are millions of employees that work every day to provide the best customer experience possible. In fact in a survey done by JD Power Verizon scored number one in wireless retail sales satisfaction, with AT&T falling below the industry average. And in another survey by JD Power for customer satisfaction Verizon scored number one for the Mid-Atlantic Region, and tied for number one in the Northeast Region, North Central Region, and in the Southwest Region. That leaves only two regions where we didn't score number one. AT&T did not score or tie for first in any region. If our customer...

Should someone who works at Best Buy know every detail about Microsoft Money or World of Warcraft? What about just the people that work in the media department, they should know everything about every piece of software right?

I don't know what business you run, but when it grows to be a billion dollar company, then you can stick your nose in how other companies are run. In the meantime, port out and be happy with Cingular until you run into a "bad store" with them.

Sure people say Verizon is way behind on PDA phones, look at the XV6800 not released yet, thats half a year since it was first introduced...but what matters is if the network is capable of dazzling you with both the reception and data quality of the phone. Take for example the Iphone on AT&T, great phone but slow network, so it lags in that field. The XV6800, not yet released but its a great phone with the good network to back it up. Today I called my vzw rep and told him that I was going to switch to att at the end of the month when my contract was up. He asked why and I told him my situation with the easton store. He was upset that I went to the store and not to him. Then I told him the money I would be saving if I went to att. He said fine and if I ever needed anything give him a call.

He called back an hour later and matched att price and offered a few new phones. I'm now going to call att and see if they can give me a good deal on some bb curves.

In store:
Store Techs deal with phones not working due to malfunctioning, hence the word PHONES not BB or PDA here.

Sales reps who know what the products can do for you.

Customer Service Reps in store who can look over your bill and handle any questions in your bills..

Over the phone we can look into the acct, find and fix the problem..and get you on your way. I truly aplgze that you had to go through this to find out that the store are in my eyes for initial set up, an...

... So, a VZW store was "really dirty" ? This either means:
A, what your meaning of the word "dirty" is probably isnt close to something people would consider reasonable, or
B, there was some circumstance that caused it to be "dirty" such as construction in the store or someone trailing dirt in from outside and the employees not having a chance to clean it up because of how busy the store was.

and the employees were "incredibly rude".. I have had customers tell my supervisor that I was very rude to them just because I told them something they didnt want to hear, and my guess is that is probably what happened to you. Such as when the store told you they wernt equiped to assist with Blackberries and advised you to call in to customer serv...

That said, posts like yours always aggravate me. While I am truly sorry of your negative experience, why does the subject title have to be; "HOW BAD ARE VERIZON WORKERS?"

I use AT&T and VZW. In both cases, I go back to the same locations (respectively of course) that I made my purchase when I need assistance. I also make it a habit to pop in once in awhile just to say "hi" when I don't need anything.

This past week I was in Northern VA. Had a problem with my VZW phone. Stopped in a huge VZW store in Reston, VA. Everyone I dealt with was really nice and helpful. Had to leave my phone with them for 45 minutes or so. A...

You claim that you are saving over $100 with AT&T.. thats great, so you are somehow saving money with a carrier that charges the same for plans? Awesome...

Curves are great? Sure, so are 8830s, so are Samsung I760s and HTC XV6800s.. As for when will VZW get the curve? Never, its a GSM phone. VZW might get the Curve 2, just like they got the Pearl 2. For more information, go ask RIM.

Voyager is crap? Feels cheap? (anyone else think apc874 is just a new login beachslaped made to troll more with?)

This thread has been very insightful.

Verizon Wireless and the Customer(most of them) are suffering from a major perception issue on reality.

Firstly, VZW can't be that bad! They have over 65 million customers. That's alot of folks.

VZW must be making somebody happy or at the very least staying out of their way. Your cell phone should be a non issue in your life like the refrigerator or turning on the water... it just happens. And just like any other non issue in your life sometimes things can go wrong. Now if the water stops running I'm likely to call a plumber. Unless it's something I can handle; it's just plumbing.

Users of today's modern communication devices really need to step up their game. This stuff is not magic. mil...

- Did you opt for a BES or a BIS program?
- If for a BES, what was the licensing?
- What was your IT implementation with a BES?
- Did it mirror your previous BES with VZW?
- With at&t as a small business customer, did you go with any vertical solutions if they were appropriate?
- What about the at&t AMB program, were you able to take advantage of that?
- Sounds like you have enough CRU's, perhaps you may even get some IRU's for your folks, was that explained?
- Since data plans are exactly the same for BES and BIS, where did leverage an additional $100 in savings? Voice lines? Officereach?

And since you had not...
