Using an unlocked Sprint Razr2 V9M on Verizon; possible?

I like the new Razr2, and I like the new OS that it runs. It seems quick, and looks like a good UI over all. Unfortunately as everyone knows.. Verizon likes to put the same old OS on all their phones.

Now.. would using an unlocked Sprint Razr2 work on Verizon? I don't need the VCast feature, so as long as the phone would work for txting, calling, and listening to mp3s off of a microSD(or whatever the razr2 has) still works I'll be fine.

It seems like getting the Razr2 with Verizon is like buying a new high end gaming desktop loaded with Windows 98. :\

My god with the questions that have been asked and asked. There is no such thing as an unlocked CDMA phone!!!! So no verizon will not activate any sprint phone nor will sprint activate and verzon phone. And further more alltel won't activate any phone not branded for them either!

This is my first time looking into CDMA phones.. I've had TMobile in the past, and used an unlocked phone that was for Cingular.. and now I've got Nextel.

I just assumed CDMA was the same, but figured even then it might not work with Verizon due to their OS for some reason.

Thanks for clearing that up... again..
No harm done!

Oh ok. Yeah GSM and CDMA are different when it comes to that. It has to be a ESN that is in their database which the only way for that is the phone was made for them.

Now that is just them as if they wanted to they could add any cdma phone they just won't.

Some local CDMA carriers will though.

You might be able to flash the phone with Sprint's software. I know that some people had luck with that with the original RAZR V3c. I read about being able to load the Motorola software from Alltel. It obviously shut off the Verizon functions like Get It Now, but you might be able to do the same thing with the RAZR2. Hard to say without actually trying it.

sprint will not repeat NOT activate it unless its in their database. And there is no way for someone to add it if its not.

What are you talking about? I never said they would. I said you might be able to flash a Verizon phone with someone else's software.

People have done it in the past. Take an activated Verizon phone, get it flashed with Sprint software. If the ESN is already in Verizon's database, I don't know why you couldn't at least manually program it IF it even needs to be reprogrammed.

Seriously, I don't think you understand what I'm talking about.

yes I understand there is no programing to do if they won't activate it. I don't think you know what your talking about. If its a sprint phone the ESN is not in verizons database therefore they will not activate it. And if they don't then you programing it is meaningless!

Yeah he's not talking about a Sprint phone.

He is saying that I might could purchase the Razr2 from Verizon and then flash it back with the original OS like what is on Sprints Razr2's, and everyone else's.

That might be worth a try.

It worked with the original RAZR. It might work in this case as well.

Sprint and Verizon are both CDMA. This post is completely irrelevant anyway considering we're talking about a Verizon phone.
