I thought it was funny. But I kinda feel where she is coming from, hell, I don't have a credit card either...

Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?

[10:13:21 PM] Visitor: I am trying to upgrade my phone, but it wants to verify with a credit card. I don't have a credit card, and the upgrade is free!

The checkout page requires a credit card even if you have a zero balance. Your state may charge taxes based on the retail price of the phone. After you enter your credit card information, the next page will show you if any balance due before your order is processed.

[10:14:23 PM] Visitor: I don't have one. Can it be verified by checking account?

Unfortunately, only credit cards are...

Just fyi most banks won't give you a debit card if you can't have a checking account. I work at a bank and if you have had your account closed you won't be getting a debit card. Debit cards are not offered in my state on savings accounts. So there is not a lot of options for these people and that is there own fault.

A mail in rebate would be offered in store.

[10:18:44 PM] Visitor: I don't want a mail in rebate, I have been through that before - it takes way longer than it should in such an electronic age. I am at the end of my contract and may just find another company that is more than willing to take my phone number and give me the phone I want for free as well.

I like how they say Electronic Age and shouldn't have to wait when they don't have a credit card. Most web site that you buy things off require a Credit Card or Debit Card with a Major Credit Card logo on it. f you don't got one by choice or because of Credit then you are not part of the Electronic Age.

Good News, Verizon Wireless Ac...

I agree this country is run off credit/debit cards. Any one the works in retail will tell you that most of all sales are done with debit/credit cards! Stop complaining and get one. If you pay the off then they don't cost you anything. That is what I do! They are free!

This sounds like a problem with a customer, not the company. It is what it is and who the hell doesn't have a visa/mc debit card anyways?

I agree with what everyone is saying. You can get something with a visa/mastercard logo on it, even if it is like a prepaid gift card. However, I still agree with the customer. What they wanted to order is FREE. Why should they need a credit card?

In certain states (such as here in California) you're charged for the sales tax on the retail price of the phone. That is why. It's pretty easy to understand once you have that information.

The same would hold true if you were to win a car on The Price is Right. You'd be liable for any taxes on the car. No two ways about it.

I thought this was gonna be a rant about someone coming back with a $400 deposit. You knew your credit was bad when you walked in. Don't act surprised. Now either take this EasyPay or wobble over to Cricket.

BTW: yeah just get a debit card it's a check that DOESN'T kill trees.

The agent should have clarified with the customer that she could have used a debit card with Visa/MC logo. All the agent said is that she had to have a "Credit Card". Not everyone knows that a Debit card with the correct logo on it will work as a Credit Card. She asked if she could use a checking account. The odds are that she does have a debit card attached to the checking account. It is the "job" of the agent to think out of the box and to make sure that the customer understands the options.

Debit cards/prepay debit are not accepted for online PURCHASES. You can pay your bill and whatnot, but only credit cards and gift cards are accepted for purchases. Even with a gift card, you still have to enter credit card info... A Debit Card is not a Credit Card just because it says VISA. It's still a debit card and YOUR BANK has to make it so your card can be used as credit for online purchases.

So whomever had an issue with my "job performance"...I gave her the information she needed to have. I didn't create the system...

Also, ONLINE, there is not thinking outside the box. There are several restrictions on purchases to prevent fraud. So the options are: have a credit card/the appropriate bank card or take yourself to a store...

FYI to you ALL2020.

I don't have the greatest credit and do not have a major credit card as you do. I, however, have a debit card that is a VISA that is attached to my checking account and I have made a dozen purchases online with VERIZON and have had no issues at all and that is not bill payments actual accessory and equipment purchases..

Your bank could get you one for free. They are easier to handle and you have less hassle with businesses taking your check.

Good Luck. Do what you must.

You just told me a lot about yourself too.
Mainly the fact that you can't/don't read.

As I stated before, this was an issue a CUSTOMER had. I was the replying representative.

Also, all of my replies are based on purchasing online with VERIZON WIRELESS. That's who I work for and have specific information on. I don't know where you purchased your "ping irons" from, but Verizon Wireless, it was not.

You tried really hard to make me look foolish. Funny how things backfire.

Actually I saw that after I had posted. So then your customer is effed. I don't really care.

As for purchasing items from Verizon Wireless with a visa debit... I upgraded last year with a Visa debit card. I know for a fact you can. I just added a new line of service, buying a W385 using a Visa Debit card... Do you see the trend here?

Considering you are the Rep, why don't you tell me why I am able to do all this yet your customer wasn't.

Why is it bad for Verizon to offer you a mail in rebate and you complain that they're not in the electronic age, yet you offer your checking account? I actually think it's *YOU* who needs to get into the electronic age (get a credit card, a debit card, a pre-paid card, a goat with a Visa logo, whatever!! Just move into the 21st century!!).
