someone remind me why i got the new chocolate......
I've posted threads on here about how great the phone is and how much I love it.
Now I'm having trouble with it already.
Today I recorded 3 short videos... each is about 25 seconds long.
When I go to view the videos, I press Play, and the first 5-6 seconds of the video play. Then the entire screen gets fuzzy and pixelated and the entire phone is frozen. I can't even turn the phone off when it does this. Eventually, like after 4 minutes of being frozen, the screen goes back to normal and the phone freaks out and goes through all the menus super fast. Then it's fine.
I tried viewing the videos 10 times. 7 times the phone froze, and the other 3 times it was totally fine. GRR! ...

drop that sad excuse of a network and jump on the at&t train. we have much better phones and we don't lock them down.
ATT's network sucks almost as much as your posts do. đĸ
plus, my entire family and like 99% of my friends have verizon. it'd be silly to switch. definitely not worth giving up a great network for a "cool phone"

it does depend were you live by me at&t has the best signal hopefully in the future at&t will expand there coverage to your area.
Oh noes! Swing and a miss for that 'great' ATT network! đ¤Ŗ You got served!*
( * personally, I hate that expression, but it seemed appropriate here)
ATT will always be second best, but if it works for you in your area, glad to hear it.
With a lower churn rate, Verizon would catch up and surpass AT&T eventually. Or they could just buy a few markets across the nation.

Verizon's churn rate is lower. There are dozens of people on this website alone that switch over and switch back to Verizon within a week.

Very true.

then at&t will just drop the cash and buy a smaller cell phone service provider and merge them all into the at&t network...genius đ hey were back on top..
Nope. With ATT buying out Dobson, there aren't any small GSM providers of any real size left. Next biggest I guess would be Suncom, which is around 1 million subscribers.
But if Verizon buys Alltel, that's 10 million subscribers... and ATT is then #2 fo' life. đ
Because GSM is still in the evolutionary path of TDMA (Time Division), it will not be as efficient because it has less capacity due to frequency dedication issues. Code (CDMA) oriented service is based on binary 'encryptions' that do not require dedicated bandwidth but can maximize bandwidth because the sender and receiver are using the same 'code' and need only to receive and inerpret the bit packets and not a stream of dedicated digital data.
So, no, GSM is not superior.
...and does size matter? Naw. For an economy of scale, yes. So VZW, at&t and even Sprint get that now. Being the biggest is a hollow prize. It's about the Benjamin's, baby. Profit. Who is gettin...

"CDMA coverage is more widespread in the United States, especially in rural areas (though this won't be true forever), and CDMA carriers have more robust 3G wireless broadband networks. On the other hand, GSM service has a larger global footprint and GSM phones use the convenient SIM cards. Also, when taken on a global scale, GSM users will find a wider selection of phones."

Trying to convince yourself that ATT is better? Sorry, but it just... ain't. And prolly never will be.

Nah. I think secretly you want to port to VZW. Hence the fascination. đ
Look forward to you signing up with your one true love, VZW.

Reliable phones? I hear the LG 8300 and most of the Samsungs are good. Basically, anything that's been out for several months and hasn't been mass-returned. I like to ask the in-store techs instead of the reps, they tend to be a bit more frank and honest overall.
There are 5 lines on my plan, and 2 have the 8300. I agree, it is very reliable. They've had the 8300s for about a year or so, and the phones are durable and reliable.
I heard the 8700 is a good phone too... i'm just not crazy about the chrome/steel look to it.... oh well.....
how are the 8600s? are they being discontinued because they stink? i know my verizon store has them... at least on monday it was still on display

Yeah, I'd almost go with the 8300 myself, 'cept its a bit big/bulky, and I hear you can't do speakerphone on it with the flip closed. âšī¸
Far as the 8600 goes, I haven't heard anything bad about it other than the speakerphone kinda s...

What about the 9900, does that interest you at all?
Thats exactly why I dont want to get the 8300!! haha It's very bulky and dated.
I currently have text messaging blocked, so the 9900 is kind of pointless for me. Same with the samsungs that flip to the side and have the keyboard. I found text messaging to be too time consuming and too much of a distraction, so I blocked it all together. (I'm a full time student and I take 23 credit hours!!)
But before you do a complete swap, I would give the 8550 another chance
Sprint and Verizon are both CDMA carriers and so their networks are similar. Again, Verizon advertizes their network better but Sprint actually offers better multimedia content with Vision than V does with V-cast.
So get Fusic and Sprint ahead.
No wait, the Fusic is still a better phone.

Too bad its on an inferior network. đĸ
Get me some good indoors reception on Sprint, then we'll talk. You guys were C-minus at best when I was with you.
I did have a chance to play with the Chocolate demo, at a VZW office. Not bad.
I'm hoping and do believe Sprint is making a new Sprint. Dropping the Nextel name off Sprint Nextel, adding new cs dept (VERY FRIENDLY), etc.
What I disagree with Spring, is how they chose some 3rd party reps, that don't have a clue what Sprint offers, and can offer.
Sounds like they are reading their screen verbatim.
Oh well, they can only learn from their mistakes.
If so, I'd like to help you. Give you the numbers for the right departments. I know Sprint customer service can be fustrating at times, but I'd like to give you some kind of direction.

I don't have Sprint's service. I am still in contact with my old roommate who does have Sprint service. Last time she tried to resolve a billing issue, it took an hour and a half. That's ridiculous.
Yep. Meanwhile, the few times I've had to call VZW customer service, I've always been connected within five minutes, and the reps are usually helpful and very nice.
Only annoying incident was one time when voicemail was down for a couple of hours (the only time I ever couldn't get voice mail with VZW). The rep wouldn't just come out and admit that it was down, I had to grill her to get the real scoop. She seemed a little anxious, maybe she was new. Other than that, VZW CS has been golden an...

Now it's your roomate. If you want to help your roomate, send me an email and find out what her issues are and I'll try and help as best as I can. đ
The waiting has increased, but I have direct lines for almost about any dept you want to go. I normally don't need to call these dept, unless it's Sprint new billing ensemble system. This new billing system is designed to help Sprint's customers. Easy to read, and very understandable.
p.s. the reason why it's increased, is beacuse Sprint has dropped some dept, and everyone seems to inly know 1 number. Which is *2. Shoot me an email if you need assistance with ANYTHING of Sprint. I'd be happy to help.
I see it all the time, and I'll call them reps out too. I will go to their store if it's a repeat offender. I get tired of fixing up their mistakes, and I'm not afraid to go there to let them know.
$39.99 - 450 minutes
$59.99 - 900 minutes
$79.99 - 1350 minutes
Select plans
$59.99 - 450 minutes
$79.99 - 900 minutes
$99.99 - 1350 minutes
etc
FAST would list the plans, but it would be missing one. It would list something like this:
$39.99 - 450 minutes
$59.99 - 900 minutes
$79.99 - 1350 minutes
Select plans
$59.99 - 450 minutes
$99.99 - 1350 minutes
So if I had a customer that wanted the 900 minute Select plan, they would wait for 45 minutes, or I would be forced to talk them into a higher or lower plan. Either way, they'll get frustrated and possibly walk out.
Every experience I've ever had with Sprint has been terrible.

The main problem with that is that I would have to be on Sprint. And they kinda suck. đ
Seriously, I was on Sprint's network. Pretty LOUSY indoors reception with them, the freq they use just does not penetrate buildings well.
Ended up dumping Sprint, have never regretted it.
I can understand why you guys may be desperate for customers (last quarters numbers were kind of a train wreck), but trolling isn't really going to help.
the funny thing is....i ended up trading my 8600 for the 8550, the opposite of what you're trying to do, haha. i just wasn't too happy with the speaker phone on the 8600 and i had originally wanted to try out a slider phone anyway. they just hadn't announced it yet. there'll probably be issues but i'm not gonna stress out so much about this. i just want to try a new style of phone. i'm not about the trend though. and as long as the hardware issues with the 8550 h...

that was my only complaint about the phone.
i really do love it. it's a great phone, has a good speakerphone, and its definitely solid.
I'm very pleased with it, I really am. I'm keeping it.
