WAP speed

I just noticed on Saturday that Mobile Web on my VX8000 has become incredibly faster than it was before in the Chicago area. Has anyone else in this area noticed this? I was so shocked to be using Mobile Web and having the pages load up so quickly - it was really awesome!

Yeah, they announced this last week. In the Chicago area VZW added a "R" to WAP.

🤨 umm look at the subject line again. instead of wap speed. adding the r would make it warp speed. you know star trek.

Acutally I don't. But OK I get it now.

Really, shadowstar, what probably happened is Verizon added EV-DO in your area, and that boosts the speed considerably.

Well actually in this area in Chicago they've had EVDO since it came out. VZW said a while back that they had Revision A in the Chicago area - but maybe that was only to specific towers - maybe in the downtown / business area probably and now maybe they've rolled it out to cover the entire city (I'm guessing?)

Also, the phone is only capable of 1xEVDO r0. But if VZW upgraded to 1xEVDO revision A faster speed, my phone is not capable of handling that extra speed. So if they upgraded the network and made it faster, how could my phone use the faster speed if it wasn't compatible with the faster speed technology (LG VX8000)?
