Phone recommendation with NO CAMERA...

BenRaines

Apr 28, 2007, 3:05 AM
I just started a contract job with Honda and found out I can not use my VX6700 phone because it has a camera..

So I am looking for a cheap replacement that does not have a camera..

Only features I want are a GOOD speakerphone and it to be small.

if you want a good speakerphone in a small phone, why did you get the XV6700 in the first place?

Well if you read the WHOLE message you should have noticed that I purchased the phone prior to taking the job..

So I now need a phone without a camera..

Thanks for your input..

You took my message the wrong way man. And I did read your message.

I was going to say get a Nokia 2366i but then I noticed you said you had an XV6700 and it would have been a severe downgrade for you.

So then I was going to recommend a Blackberry 8703e but then you said you wanted something small.

Well, if you want another PDA phone, get the Samsung i730. That's what I have and it's great. Pretty much identical to the 6700 but no camera.

If you really want a basic spkr phone, get the Motorola W315.

The LG 3400 is good too, but it's a little on the large side.

Huh? The LG 3400 isn't big. In fact, its actually a little bit smaller and lighter than the Moto w315:

Moto w315 3.53 oz (100 g)
Dimensions 3.48" x 1.97" x 0.89"

LG 3400: 3.00 oz (85 g)
Dimensions 3.33" x 1.79" x 0.94"

You may be thinkin' of the LG 3450, which is all silver and a little bit bigger than the 3400, though its still far from being a big phone.

alot of companies do that now. Its so you dont take pictures of the top secret stuff and give them to competitors. I know down here the state jobs as well as boeing does the same thing.

just seems immature...i mean if someone REALLY wanted to take a pic of something they could use a small digital camera which would probably be a lot more effective anyways....

Ok well lets get back to the subject at hand! I would have to say that the LG vx3400 is a good overall phone with no camera and staying pretty slim!

May be slim, but it's pretty big. I don't get it. Why are phones today so big? I used to have a Samsung a650 and that thing was tiny! And that was 2.5 years ago.

Actually, if you look at the stats, the LG 3400 and Samsung a650 are almost the exact same size... and the LG is lighter:

Sammy a650 3.60 oz (102 g)
Dimensions 3.30" x 1.80" x 0.90"

LG 3400 3.00 oz (85 g)
Dimensions 3.33" x 1.79" x 0.94"

Again, you may be thinking of the LG 3450, which is all-silver and slightly bigger (stats are on the VZW website), but its still not a big phone.

Phones overall do seem to be gettin' bigger, probably because of the demand for more features and larger screens. I'm o...

Weird. I guess numbers don't lie, but I've held a 3400 and a 3450 and they both feel big to me.

The a650 was so cool. It was so small, especially considering it was tri mode color screened phone.

I dunno man... maybe the LGs feel big too you 'cuz they're a lil' bit thick in proportion to their (otherwise small) size? Or maybe its just nostalgia for the 650.

Friend o'mine used to have a Sammy a530. Now THAT thing was small, smaller than the 650 or the LGs. I'd say at that point yer almost getting TOO small.

It really wasn't bad at all. My friend's worked great for him for a very long time, he replaced it only because he wanted a cameraphone.

Hmm... speakerphone, no camera, and kinda small? Not too many choices there. Seems like most everyone wants to sell you a cameraphone, even though plenty of comapnies don't allow 'em.

Phones that meet your reqs:

- LG 3400/3450 (like someone already mentioned)
- LG 4650 (FUGLY phone, but allegedly good reception & good speakerphone)
- Nokia 2365i/2366i (have no idea if its good or not)
- Motorola W315 (be careful with cheap Moto's... t...
