Do any of you think it would be possible to purchase a pre-paid Verizon phone and then activate Cricket service on it?

Any help or advice you can give will be greatly appreciated.

More than likely not. Cricket service requires the CDMA handset to have their firmware as well as PRL preloaded into it. The only way this could be done to any non Cricket handset would be to have it flashed with their information and I do not believe any of the Cricket stores have the ability to do so at this time.

Cricket is CDMA 1900
Verizon is CDMA 850

So, No a Verizon phone's will not work on the Cricket network.

Yes it will work. As long as the phone is TriMode. No corp locations have the ability to flash the phone but many agent location are capable of flashing the phone. Just make sure they flash the phone with Cricket software and PRL. Many are not flashing the PRL which causes the phone to roam. Still don't recommend it many of the features - picture, text and web - may not work. Plus they charge $20 to $30 to flash the phone.
