Band difference

I currently use cricket and am considering buying a fully flashed phone. My understanding this is that 1 is an older Verizon phone...the other I am not sure

I know that Cricket used CDMA but someone said be sure the phone is 850mhz and someone else 1900Mhz. I use the phone for making calls only and maybe 2 texts per year. VERY basic usage,

Is there a big difference between the 850mhz and 1900?

What should I look for before buying either phone? I know the old cricket phone I had was tri-band. I understand NOTHING about band strength so ANY info would be appreciated

I know some of the pitfalls with a fully flashed phone but I am tending to lean in that direction because of the phone. Motorola RAZR V9M as opposed to the RAZR V...

Depending on your area Cricket uses 850/1900/1700. If you are in a triband market you would want a 1700 MHz phone. Older markets you can get away with a 850/1900 MHz device. Go to their website and look at the coverage map, it should tell you if you live in a triband area.
