Motorola Vs. LG

OK....I have heard people say LG is better, and I have heard people say Motorola is better, but which one really is? What is everyones opinion on each?

Personally I go with Motorola and recommend Motorola most of the time. The reception on Motorola phones has performed better than any LG phone we have had since the 4400. I have definatly had less problems and less returns on Motorola than LG as well. I will admit though when motorola was still using the old charging port, LG phones were definatly more durable. LG phones are also easier to use, but in the end being able to make a call is the most important part. I would rather be extra careful with my phone and make a call than I would having a durable phone that won't make a call....

depends on the customer and their usage, also the area it's being used in. i think motorola phones are very good reception and so are LG. i typically think LGs have a better build, but not all. the problem is LG makes a bunch of junky entry level phones (3100, 3200, 3300, etc...), and that's what a lot of people buy. those same people are rough on their phones and they have problems. most motos are built well regardless of price (265/276 aside) but they definately have software issues (nearly all of them). most of LGs phones after the entry level are solid. the 4650 is my favorite phone ever, if it had a camera i'd have it. it's solid has great reception and the features are great. the 8100-8300 is great too, but as with any high end phone i...

Some Kyoceras are wonderful, but the cheap ones barely are capable of lasting a year. We are holding our tongues on Motorola right now, after the 265/266/262 speaker fiasco and having to call Bangledesh 20 (not an exageration) times to get some of the issues dealt with, we had decided to talk eveyone out of any Motorolas from this point on. A rep in OKC talked me into giving the new 323 another chance, and so far, so good, but Motorola has left a really bad taste in my mouth. Signal wise, they are about the same. Ease of use, goes to LG. Repair issues LG wins hands down. Between the Lg500 and the Moto323, the Lg has more features for the same price, and easier menues to deal with. That's my two bits!

The fuzzy screen on the LG 5000 brings it below the Mot 323- and what about the fact that you cant turn the speakerphone on until AFTER the call is placed- even Kyocera doesnt restrict that...

never whore kyocera again. kyocera may not do that but they also do not hold calls, place calls, or stay in one piece. kyoceras are the joke of the industry.

That is true, the speakerphone on that one is a little strange. The 6100 didn't do that, but the Nokia's all do that, too. I'm trying to have an open mind about the Motorolas. I've sold about 35 of them this month. That's an amazing number considering how much we have hated the previous models. I'm hoping we won't have any speaker/charging port/mic problems like we have had with so many of the other Motorolas. If this one holds up, I'll be really happy.

i have high hopes on the v323, hopefully it doesnt have any long term problems, we have not sold that many of them, but i have only had one person with problems, and it was the blue lights on the outside that would not turn off and one of them burnt out already.

audiovox is equally as horrible just because of the recording you get when you call their new jersey number.

Hands down LG. As was mentioned, being able to make a call is the most important thing. It was so much nicer on my old LG than on the v262 i have now. Dialing, on any phone, is fairly identical. But speed dial on my LG was better implemented as were many other of the usability aspects. On industrial design, i would say it's a draw. The 262 is a cute little phone, but that's about all it has going for it. My 5550 was great. Comfortable to use, i loved the OLEDs on the front, and as a bonus, it was so bright that i could use it as a flashlight in dark places. I never had signal problems with the LG nor have i had them with the 262. (unlike a certain other carrier in the area whose name starts with a V and whose call quality SUCKS where i work....

people who like motorola boggle my mind...

"I used to have nextel and i only want a motorola."

Later on in the conversation... "Well what do you like best?"

Me: "Well i dont like motorola but you are free to make your own decision, its personal preference."

Sometimes im just up front and say

"Motorolas get better reception but you will be back to me less times in your warranty with an LG, and i like that aspect of it."

Amen, Brother! I hated that 266. We don't like the 262 much better around here.

in my experience...I had an LG 6100. The menu on LG's are MUCH more user friendly then MOTO's. However, I now use a MOTO 323 and I get better reception than I did w/ LG.
It's really a draw but I prefer service over style...

Well as a customer, it's a toss up as to which will work better. Preferences for features and such usually drives most of that. As an agent, I hate dealing with Motorola and I'll do almost anything including not selling their phones to not have to talk to those people. LG is a much better company to do business with.

see, I don't know: I have heard horror stories from both sides. But then again - i just get calls about it - i don't deal w/ it everyday.
What makes moto so much more worse to deal w/?

First off, they answer the phone somewhere in either India or Bangledesh. If you get someone who understands S. OK English, then they can't really do anything for you and have to escalate back to someone in USA, the bad thing about that is it takes about 45 minutes to convince them that you should escalate. The longest conversation we have had with LG is about 4 minutes. They almost always replace phones rather than try to fix them, and when they come back we hardly ever have to send them back. We had about 10 phones in a row that we had to send back to Motorola repair twice. We just don't like to deal with Motorola Repair, they are a headache!

It's okay, they take forever, but usually they have good reps that actually answer the phone. We are on a first name/cellphone relationship with our Kyocera repair manager if that tells you anything about how often we have to call her, but she usually fixes problems instead of transferring you around to three different countries.

as far as i know LG is a 100% refurbish replacement... then those phones go into a pile to see if they can be fixed, because a problem i sometimes have is corporate stores "flag" esn's for repair and i sometimes cannot activate the refurbished phone, sometimes so quickly that customer service wants to be pigheaded about it because the customer who previously owned the phone still does not have his replacement... LG sometimes has problems with those refurbished phones being crap but that is a 3100/5550 thing, its a good thing that most LG's are not that bad.

the problem is that too many times is the last good motorola that was made for us was the v120,v60 (besides the antenna). Too often every model of their phone since then has an over 30% at the very least (unscientific numbers) warranty repair rate. there have been certain models, (T731, V810, V262) that are closer to 50%.

If it came down to the "coolness" factor, I'd have to say Motorola.

If it came down to interface and reliability, I'd say LG.

90% of all of my phone problem customers are Motorola. No.. Make that 100%. I have never had any customer come back with any other phone brand.
