To all sales people.. I need to vent. : )

Ok, been doing the sales thing for a long while now. And I need some advice.

People are driving me CRAZY. A few days ago I was seconds away from going off on a crowd of people that decided it was a good idea to show up 5 mins before the doors locked. THEN, each one of them insisted on arguing with me about everything. Not going much into details, but, each one of them had problems that is against policy to even do. Some wheren't even the account holders or auth users for what they wanted to do.

Anyway. It seems that there has been a huge rush of dumb people lately. Wanting to fight everything. "Why should i have to sign for 2 years" "how come my battery isn't supported" "The phone was wet when you sold it to me" "what do ...

Sales 101 "Customers always Right" lol

You can only do what you do good & that's helping the customer the best you can. Are you in upper-management? If not try your best to satisfy the customer if you can't pass them off to management or 611 customer service, they should back up what you tried to tell them. It's really hard to deal with a lot of them crazy customers.

I just laugh at them with my co workers when they finally leave. Or just come here to laugh at the fact we are not alone with the customers who are phone challenged. or common sense challenged whichever

I like when people say "I thought that they were going to make contracts illegal" or something of that nature. That's when I point out that they don't have to sign one if they want to pay $500 for their Blackberry...

Just say yeah they are going to make contracts illegal so your mortgage contract is now illegal, your car loan is now illegal, your apartment lease is now illegal. All contracts are now illegal by order of the Central Planning Office.

So here is my vent -
And it's happening right now while I'm on lunch break: this lady called up to the store to speak with one of my co-workers. she apparently had a ticket and so she didn't have her ID. She was telling my co-worker, "Well you know me, you can let me change the plan and you can help me do this or that." My coworker said what we all know, that even if we know them, it can't be helped; we have to have an ID. twenty minutes later, the lady walks into the store. She is still going on very loudly right now about how she called customer service and they told her that she could be verified by phone and helped. Now here is the kicker - the lady GOT OFF THE PHONE with customer service, and rather than having taken care o...

im right there with you. the frequency of these people just comes and goes. locations also have something to do with it. some of my coworkers have mastered the art of putting these people in thier place in a respectful way. ive gotten to the point of if youre nice and respectful to me, you get my best. if youre a horses ass and talk to me like im your personal slave then youre going to get what you give and nothing more. sucks since i used to be able to let that crap slide off me and not even think about it but peoples lack of personal responsiblilty, especially in our indurstry, has frazzeled my every nerve. now i think my team has a pool going to see when i will just snap on some unsuspecting self righteous sob. youll probly see it...

I will say this as a manager of a retail location, you just have to learn to deal with it, somedays I about lose it because they "want to talk to a manager" and I 90% of the time will back up what my associates have already told them. I love US CEll but my one pet peeve is that we sometimes do to much for some customers. Best advice I could give is sound confident in what you tell the customer, if they even since one bit that you are not sure they will do their best to take advantage of you or go over your head.

Always sound confident with what you say even if your not 100% sure, because like what was stated earlier if they can tell your not sure they will abuse that fact. One of my favorite things is when a customer threatens to cancel because there not eligble for another 10 months or whatever, I just start dailing customer service for them and they just freak out by saying what are you doing, i just reply calling customer service so you can cancel. They change there mind as soon as that happens, they start saying no no thats good or I am ok.

You have a girlfriend? The answer seems so obvious to me. I know how you feel. Sounds like you are burned out. You need to take a vacation. At least a week.

haha, what i used to do is find out how to make them realize their stupidness without actually calling them stupid,

there was one customer i had who, was pissed i wouldn't let her friend sign when she wasnt there, because she was not the main account holder, and i tried to inform her its per policy and for their saftey to protect them. She just got pissed off more, so i informed her,

it would be nice if she could get what she wants, because one day when her friend got mad at her, and decides to cancel her account, or transfer the numbers from her name to her name, and leave her with the bill, because its in her name, all so when she wants her friend to sign the contracts, or make changes with out being authorized, it will be worth i...

Short Vent:
I'm getting tired of the people that come into the store wanting me to set up their new voice mails. It seems like they take a pleasure in being helpless when it comes to their phone. I take their phone from them, make sure it doesn't auto enter a password, then i hand it right back and tell them to press and hold 1 and follow the prompts.

Other things that irritate me are the people that insist on coming in to make payments by check or credit card. Being an agent I have to call the same department they would call to post the payment 😡 . Please stop wasting my time you can call #pay on your own and save the drive.

You're crying about it right now. What does that say. Don't be standing on your soap box telling us to stop complaining when you're complaining about it. Who made you the forum police. And you know what happens if you don't let out some steam now and then. You get constipated.

So when you get your ass handed to you by a customer all you do is sit there and smile. Sure, you can do that up front. But, you just go in the back room and talk about flowers, rainbows, and puppy dogs?? I'm sure you let out a little vent too.

I'm not talking about Joe Average and his ROKR that keeps going out. I'm talking about the people who think they DESERVE better than everyone else just because they are them. I am going to complain about the p...

I had a customer in here the other day looking to get a new phone for their 17yr son. He wanted the tritan but didn't want to pay for the internet on it and the kid said "isn't there a way to disable it or opt out of it or something?" I was like are you telling me that you as a 17yr old kid would never get on facebook or myspace or youtube when you have the capabilities of doing it ANYTIME you want straight from your phone. Right. the kids need it worse than the adults!

I used to work for US Cell and I remember these days...I have to say that you guys are brave for going through that everyday. US Cell does offer too much for customers, and yet customers do not appreciate it. I remember feeling like a customer's personal assistant when they would want this and that, and then complain that they were not aware they were in a contract a month after they activated service....yup....good luck to all y'all!

I agree, I love being in sales but it can get frustrating.

The solution is very simple. You answer all questions according to our policies unless you know a way around it. If they are b*tching about it. Simply say, there is nothing else I can do. Those are the options. If I did what you are asking I would lose my job. Leave it at that.

And here comes my favorite part...

Stare at them silently until they leave and take all the stress with them. 😁

And definately don't forget to tell them to have a good morning, afternoon, or evening.

It's not worth it to put your job on the line for something that you're not going to benefit from. Ultimately the customer isn't going to benefit either because then they just think they can g...

yeah i've had a customer just screaming and yelling at me over nothing really and they said "your wasting my time and not being helpful" So I literally said ok then and stood up from my desk and went to the next customer. Customers are customers its easy to tell which ones have worked in a customer facing environment and which ones haven't...nothing is better than having a customer being totally D-Baggish and walking into wal-mart and seeing them at the cash register working there and going through their line KNOWING they recognize you.

Yup, the voicemail stuff is pain in the ass. Yeah yeah, I know some people just need help. But, the problem is THEY DON'T TRY. I have a line to the door of people that say the same thing.. "i got the message/letter......"

and i wanna say.. didn't you JUST hear me with the person standing right in front of you.

Or, "i got this letter in the mail. What is is"

My response has been.. Did you read it?

Nope.

I had a lady that was in this line and asked what everyone was in here for. And when i told her the voicemail, she about died laughing because she did it on the way to the store to change her plan. And she was in her 50's. I think her exact words fell out like, "such a helpless society we live in"
