If US Cellular is all about customers...

Tell me why the Oregon States Attorney went after them for misleading customers? Their BOGO or BAGA as they call it is a joke. You still have to pay for the 2nd phn and if you are willing to purchase unlimited ee for $10 per month they will send you a $50 gift card. That is if the rep does not give you an outdated rebate form (which happens all the time) and if us cell does not find another loop hole to deny your rebate. I used to see at least 1 customer a week who was denied for B.S. reasons. I would call myself only to be told "NO, we won't give it to them". It's a scam and they know it, now the States Attorney knows it too.

A company can push customers until they won be pushed. The OSA will expose everything if the complaint is legit. I would imagine this will open doors in other states leading to further investigations. 😲

How was the BOGA special any different than any other companies promotions they all have the small writing or the quick talking on the commercials? It's Not. Now i will agree with the BS reasons to deny a customers rebate. I think the craziest ones I've seen were when ringing up a phone and the customer buying an accessory and them denying the rebate saying the customer didn't pay enough for the phone when the price they punched in was for the accessory but I'd always get it fixed for the customers

All the other carriers are doing the same thing. Customers seem to think that phone companies are just giving away free phones. THEY ARE NOT. The phones have a value. I don't agree with BOGO or BOGA advertising but if you really think you are just going to but one phone and get one free then you should join the rest of us in a little world I like to call reality. BOGO and BOGA offers suck to explain to customers but if you explain it right at least they can't get mad at you.

That is great. But why offer one free if you don't mean it? Maybe other carriers do the same thing but us cellular is the one advertising they are different and they care about their customers. So what are you saying they are not different? They are actually like the rest. So they are hypocrites!!

I have never had a problem calling in to the rebate center and getting the rebate resubmitted for a customer. Besides which I very rarely have a customer have problems with their rebates. And like someone else said our BOGO or BOGA is no different than any other carriers promotions, this day in age if you see a commercial where something that is normally expensive is free you should expect a catch.

I think it comes down to associates who don't care, and spend what energy they do have complaining. Not actually taking care of the customer.

But if US Cellular is about the customer why is there a catch? They claim to be "better" than the competition. You just said they are like them.

I don't get why any one is mad about this. Your geting another dicount off of the second phone which saves you even more money, and if you do the rebate the phone is free we are not forcing any one to do anything that they do not want to do. Not to even say we are waving activation fees. Name any other company that dose that. That how we are differnt. We are differnt becuase we care about people. We go out of are way to make people,s cell phone experince grate. I had a customer who's car charger brok and we did not have any left to swap the charger for, so I gave the customer mine. We have the highst customer loalty!!!!! That how we are differnt.

But you are advertising the 2nd phn is free. You are forcing them to get ee for $9.95 per month in order to be free. You say that a customers charger broke. I know they have a 1 yr warranty correct? That was great that you were nice enough to give them yours, however instead of getting a new one like they should have they got your used one.

and with the 1 yr warranty we cover the battery and the charger as long as it isnt customer abuse. And the 2nd phone is free AFTER rebate it's no different than any other company and yes US Cellular claims to be better than the rest but realistically how many times have you been somewhere and they tell you to go to one of their competitor b/c the competitor was better than them?

We were advertising the 2nd phone as free after rebate. Every ad in print or broadcast stated that stipulation. It is not false advertising when we advertise it.
They said a car charger broke. First car chargers are not included in the phone purchase. They are seperate accessory purchases and usually have only a 90 day warranty against defects. When they break their charger they are entitled to purchase a new one. The sales clerk didn't have to give them any charger new or used, but you have demonstrated that US Cellular can do no right by you.
It's obvious that people that have an issue with US Cellular also have an issue with reading comprehension.

i feel sometimes their are customer that you just cannot please, no matter how hard you try, or what you do, they will still have a problem. and i do take it personal. I feel this one person is one of them.

That associate showed common purpose and appreciate of a customer and instead of making the customer go out of their way to purchase an item, they simply gave them theirs, this shows true customer focus and i will like to see any OTHER company do something like that for a customer.

It just doesnt happen, you may think im drinking too much of the kool-aid, i dont agree with everything uscc does but i know they are trying and if you actually try, its not soo bad.

Just my rant,

Sorry folks!

Well in regards to the free phone. Oregon states attorney obviously found something wrong with the ad. US Cellular also did not fight it they agreed to make the changes necessary so something was not right. I also said that was very nice of the clerk who gave the customer their own charger.

The settlement was announced on 5/23/08. The lawsuit was filed nearly two years ago. The BAGA promotion was found to be in full compliance with the settlement.

EVERY company requires some sort of "data" package to qualify for mail-in rebates, bottom line.

You still get a hefty discount with a 2 year renewal and no easyedge, the mail in rebate is just an above and beyond promotion.

...and yes, the actual phone IS FREE after rebate. $49.95 - $50.00 = FREE (-.01). You pay $9.95 for at least 3 months for easyedge, not the phone. easyedge has a lot of value, so this is a great incentive to have customers try this service out to see if it is right for them.

Read the fine print kiddos!

Having worked a hand full of different jobs in sales over the past 10 years, this is nothing new to me.

Sears= Free Delivery (after rebate)
American= $350 computer system (after $350 in rebates)
Verizon= Free phone (after rebate and data plan purchase)

Heck, when I worked for American, they wouldnt mention anything in the tv ad's about the price being after rebate. Least U.S. Cellular mentions that in tv AND print ads.

Ask questions of your associate. Read the full add. Understand.

This is just proof of how lazy some of us have become. Stop relying on someone else

I can only presume, but I would be willing to bet that 'imhere' has had complaints and problems with every job he/she has ever held. I'm also willing to bet that none of them have lasted any significant amount of time. I'll refer you to my post titled "pukers". There is nothing misleading about our BAGA advertisements. They clearly state Free after rebate. I have not had a single customer complain about this, particularly not when they see the discount I can give them on the second phone even without the rebate. if you do have customers complaining about the content of these promotions then you should reevaluate the way you present this offer to them. If you've spent the last hour telling phonescoop forums that it's misleading, then ...

If the complainers would put half the energy into finding a job that makes them happy as they put into these rants, everyone would be better off. The last job I had, I hated. But instead of posting on message boards about how much the company sucked, I worked to find a position with another company. And I found one. And I'm a lot better off now.

But you know what they say...misery loves company, and whenever someone posts a rant here, and another person agrees, that validation is what the original poster is looking for. And it's obvious that the validation of another know it all on phonescoop is more meaningful than personal happiness.
