How to get fired from US Cellular - Top 10 Reasons...

mikeburwell

1. Don't suck off the Chicago team when they come visit your store.
2. Say you do not like our policies or procedures.
3. Ask challenging questions.
4. Expect to watch your children grow up by having a life outside this hell hole.
5. Choose not to show up to "optional" meetings, like the all associate meeting, or a "team builder".
6. Think, really think about what customers want and speak out for them.
7. Voice your opinion about how lacking our ever changing health plan coverage is.
8. Forget to have a permanent grin on your face when you see "you know who".
9. Focus on our customers, rather than giving a dance and strip show for management.
10. Have less than 100% interest in what you are being told is the best thing ever. EVER! C...

Maybe I should write about my slutty Sales Manager and her late nigh "meetings" with our old HR rep. He got promoted and so did she! To Store Manager. I guess that behavior will not make the top 10 list!

I worked for US Cell for 3 years and I was a VERY successful rep, inventory coordinator, and manager and I was fired because I stood up for myself as well as my team to my supervisor and her supervisor. Well, screw US Cell! I work for another carrier now and am doing well (as I knew that I would) cause US Cell is a very corrupt company, if you dont drink the juice then your out!! If customers truly understood how that company treated their employees then I don't know how many customers they would really have left!

LOL This is so true. I walked away from all the hypocrites. They even began telling me how to live my personal life. Whenever anyone left from the company I was told I had to cut all ties to them. I was not allowed to remain friends. Then when they told me that I had to fire anyone who dared say US Cellular was not their life but a job I quit. People need to wake up they are not what they advertise. They are hypocrites and fake.

US Cellular is like many other large companies. They say one thing and do the opposite. If you are not in the "right" clique within the company you are either buried or forced out. The DO is either a tool or a weapon depending on who you are and who you know.

Funny that use the word clique.

I have voiced my opinion of the company before to my leaders and stated that I basically have zero chance for advancement because I am not in the right clique. They just shrugged their shoulders and moved on to the next topic.

When I was there I used to see this happen to people all the time. A good friend was passed up for a position that she had been filling in as for 6 mos. It was given to someone else who had been with the company for 5 yrs less with no experience. Everyone knew the mgr hired the other person because they were best friends. Some of us questioned this and we were told to "drop it".

It is sad but true. From what I know it is not only 1 mrkt.
I know the midwest is the worse. I know one person who was pushed out because her ASM personally did not like her. She had done nothing wrong she just did not like her. I know this first hand because I was still in the company when I witnessed this.

3.95 out of what? 10? Everyone here is talking about giving good feedback so we don't have to hear our manager bitch us out. Which is what she did as a sales manager. Sometimes this job blows!

That is a quick way to get fired. I did not get fired I quit. However, because I spoke my mind my life was hell. My ASM told my mgr that I needed to keep quiet. I too got along with my staff but had an opinion. They scream out about open communication but do not mean it. I was never disrespectful nor did I ever bash senior leadership. I only questioned why some people were fired and others kept. I was usually told "they are not a good fit". The company is a fraud. They do not care about people unless those people are part of the "clique". Its sad.

Common sense people!!!

You can voice your opinions to people that you trust.

Where US Cellular breaks down as a company is in its guiding principles. A company that builds associate relations on trust and open communication needs to have leaders in place that can support your needs in those 2 areas.

Sadly, Your ASM or Senior Leaders don't care about you and your frontline job (sad that I have this view, I am a RWC also). They are worried about their 6 figure job just as much as we worry about our job.

So... stop crying and learn how to play the game that US Cellular wants you to. I'm not saying that you need to become an enthusiastic cheerleader (God knows I am not!), but do your job effectively and keep your nose clean. ...

I'm not marketing Genius, but after seeing the new "Mythos" changes, I've decided Mythos must means "Raise prices and brag about our customer service. I don't know if anybody else noticed, but 3 of our most popular phones went up in price. The Motorola Z6m, the LG UX260, and the LG UX145(formerly the penny phone.)

Raising prices, cutting features and benefits, then bragging about how we have awesome customer service. That's mythos. Also, everything has to be stupid shade of blue.

Yes, slate it is.

Don't confuse the mythos changeout and the new promo as one in the same. It just so happened that the new promo rolled out at the same time as mythos and, with the new promo, some phone prices went up.

I personally think mythos had some very good changes come with it. The one I am most excited about is no equipment change fees anymore, which is amazing. At $15 a pop, USCC is definately giving up some company profits for the benefit of their customers.

Customers and employees alike seem to forget that U.S. Cellular is a company. Companies are created to make money. You're employed to make money. The fact that USCC is trying to above and beyond is huge. And yes, trying sometimes takes a couple efforts to get it right.

And I like the color slate.

Wow... you're an idiot.
Dude, if you don't believe in the product you're selling or have passion for the company you're working for - you deserve to be "let go".

Better yet, do yourself a favor and just find something else to do with your life.

I too am an ex-USCC employee, and I can absolutely verify what most of you are saying on this thread.

You can absolutely get fired if someone doesn't like you...even if you perform your job very well and get "exceeds expectations" on your reviews. How is this possible? Better yet, doesn't this type of thinking actually go against what they preach when they are feeding you giant spoonfuls of the DO?

The people who work in the corporate office are either so righteous and pious in their own belief that anything less than floating on air is inacceptable and inexcusable. Then there are others in the office that are two-faced phoney backstabbers who can only tell on you behind your back. Doesn't the DO say that you are obligated to open...

Sorry that you were let go on your one year anniversary; however, it has been said several times, nobody gets fired from a job without deserving it.

I'm not saying that you were not a good employee, but people do make mistakes and you clearly made a mistake that cost you your employment.

I, as well, feel that the DO is a brainwashing concept. It is not any different than how any other company attempts to brainwash you. When used effectively with employees that support the concepts, it works splendid. Sadly, not everybody is capable of living their professional lives at a higher standard of living.

Next, good (can't say great yet) customer service is not the proprietary informatin that USCC was attempting to withhold from customer...

When you're not in the midst of the Mythos melee, it feels like a joke. It's like you get the chance to "snap out of it" and see it for what it really is....an instrument for the employees to use, not for the public or potential customers to have as an advantage over other carriers.

The commercials are plain creepy and don't make any sense. Customer service, good AND great, should be something that people who work is CUSTOMER SERVICE should do.

U.S. Cellular didn't roll out anything special at all. They did a bunch of grandstanding to change the shade of blue that they used in their advertising. Why would someone want to steal this?

While we're talking about it, why would anyone want to steal anything from USCC? They are alre...

Don't be confused, I wasn't attacking you personally. The fact is that your hiring manager saw something in you when you were hired. You must not have lived up to their expectations. That's not a bad thing.

As far as you trying to change for a year to be what USCC wanted you to be... Forget that, you should never change who you are for anybody or any company.

My mere point was that the DO works for the people who buy into it. Once you get past the point where you realize that it's corporate brainwashing and realize that all you need to do is act accordingly within your company's building.

Best of luck to you.

I'm not confused. Actually, you did make this personal:

"Sadly, not everybody is capable of living their professional lives at a higher standard of living."

I apologize if you did not mean that as a back-handed insult to my level of integrity or professionalism. It is hard to read anything else into that statement except that you feel that I made a sub-par effort in order to do my job and perform at a high standard.

Perhaps this is the crux of the problem at U.S. Cellular. A lot of the associates believe themselves above others and hold those that they believe aren't "good enough" or made out of the "right stuff" in contempt. Who are you to say I don't perform at a high level? You do not possess enough information of the e...
