I want a....touch screen, FLIP open, qwerty phone that does NOT REQUIRE a data plan. 😎 (lg voyager?) It seems to me that technology is going this way and it also seems to me that when uscc DOES finally get something comparable to the iphone or voyager, it will be obsolete. My unlimited incoming minutes is really the only thing that vzw does not have and thats what keeps me from switching. Any phones with the above features coming soon? LG rumor is a teenie bopper phone. I want STYLE! 😉

Ok lets look at your arguement.

"I want STYLE!
qwerty phone that does NOT REQUIRE a data plan.
touch screen
FLIP open"

"It seems to me that technology is going this way "

ok THE ONLY Phone that meets that requirment from any carrier is the Voyager. SO how can that be the trend if it is the only? And if it is a trend then won't you think there will be mopre soon. I agree USCC is slower at getting phones and LG is up Verizon's a ss and give them exclusive plastic phones. (chocalate and voyager) THese phones are just the hot flavor of the month not real good quality.

The other phones that are on the market that are high end with SOME of the desired features you want REQUIRE a DATA plan NO MATTER the CARRIER. These include...

Wait??? that word is not in my vocabulary... OK so it doesnt have to flip open, I just dont like the lg rumor...and maybe that is why I am turned off by the slide out feature... tmobile has a phone out as well that is kinda like the voyager(although their service is crap)...and as for the trend... a lot of the phones that are hot right now are the qwerty phones, the music phones, and the touchscreen. Not saying that it all has to be on one phone but it would be nice not to mention that it would probably sell fast. How come uscc is so stingy with phones? We only have a handfull of phones and other companies offer a large selection of phones ranging from your freebies to nice, feature packed phones. (now heres where i feel like a nerd...)ho...

i know verizon and US Cell are basicly the same network but thanks to verizon's crippling UI that is on their eclusive phones it will never work for US Cell.

Check out the HTC 6800 it will be out soon and it has:

E-mail
Touch
Slde out keyboard
MP3 Video
Internet

But it will require the windows media data for 24.99 a month.

I agree with you that there are trends leaning towards the phones with keyboards and touch without getting the pdas but right now there is very little that do fit those needs without data requirments. Sorry it is the case right now no matter who the carrier is. I would expect by christmas US Cellular should offer the following changes

1. More non data phones with full keyboards
2. Touch screen p...

By the way the $24.95 BlackBerry data plan is not VERY limited. It is MORE THAN ENOUGH for 90% of the users out there.

The nice thing about BlackBerry is that all of the content you download is filtered through BlackBerry's servers which eliminates the majority of the extra content you don't want or need which in turn increases download times even on a 1x network as opposed to a windows based smartphone.

Plus BlackBerrys don't crash and freeze up like a windows machine.

I know the 24.99 BB plan is limited I was refering to the windows mobile data plan for 24.99.

I agree blackberry is a superior service and thats why i have a pearl personally.

the 39.99 is a necessary if you are getting a blackberry the 24.99 is worthless.

i will say that windows mobile 6.0 fixes a lot of the glitches and load times

Read the response again. I said the 24.95 BlackBerry plan was PLENTY for most people. You would have to spend 12 hours a day downloading data on your blackberry in order to exceed 4 mb.

how....

i just don't understand please help me
I know the BB compress data but I alone used 8mb last month and i am not even a corporate user just a 2 email address web surfer facebook app user.

I understand BB uses the best compression service and that way most data is greatly reduced. here are a list of features that would move you above the 4mb plan

GPS Services : Blackberry Maps
Google Maps

Downloaded Attachments: Can reach 500k each
Opera Mini and other full browsers non WAP
Video Streaming from youtube.com or others
Music Streaming: Radio or Mp3 play sites

So your claim of 90% of people would be ok is FALSE!!

After reading board after board and knowing my bill and others that i wo...

What I was told as a RWC was that the 4mb was just for web surfing and applications other than email and GPS. The email and GPS was unlimited.... I may have been misinformed but thats what I was told.

nope it is just that US Cellular does not charge for GPS like verizon does on their BB. You can use any application for free but with data usage. It is one of the most data hungry application

oh and i forgot the most common data charge comes from not properly closing programs that connect to the data network keeping the data flowing

I just varified the GPS is not unlimited with the 24.99 plan it counts towards 4mb data. Varified with the BB Biz Tech Team
