Sprint is deceptive!

I entered into a one year service agreement with Sprint in 12/06 with two phones on a family plan. In July of '07 one of the phones was stolen. I went to a Sprint store and asked them what my options were. The guy there told me I could purchase a new phone for $300 or I could put a third line on my existing plan. I opted to put on the third line. He did inform me that this third line would have a 2 year contract, thus expiring in July '09. I agreed to that. He also told me to call Sprint and have the stolen line suspended, which I did. My husband now has a new job and he does not have any reception where he works. We have 2 small children, one of which is autistic, and we primarily use the phones to get in contact with each other if there is...

hmmm... a tough one indeed we'd hate to see you leave for any reason but I can understand why you'd be upset. to let you know now sprint has enforced a zero tolerance policy towards misleading customers into renewals, and not to sound like i'm trying to excuse the reps actions but it may have been a misunderstanding... actually the more I look at your side of the story the more it seems like he was a jerk and lied through his teeth... i can asure if he did something like that today he'd be in a whole lot of trouble (we fired 2 reps were I worked for not providing correct full disclosure in the last month) send me an email and I'll try and see what i can do when i have some down time

I do not understand where you get this "it seems like he was a jerk and lied through his teeth" I do not see where he intentionally did anything wrong. Sprint has a right plan guarantee and changing the plan does NOT extend the contract. He explained her option of getting the third line and according to the customer "He did inform me that this third line would have a 2 year contract, thus expiring in July '09." which the customer states they agreed to. To me this sounds more like an misunderstanding that can be cleared up.

yes it would only extend the contract on my phone. i have 3 lines on my account also and all were added on different date i have even changed family plans but they all still have different contract exopirations.and i have called planty of time to change my plan and i havent once been notified of a contract renewal but i see the change when i call the ivr and check the end date.

try a change of responsibilty see if some one youknow will take it off your hands or even try someone shopping around at the store see if they'll take the phone of your hands and just have a number change.

I am not arguing about the third line expiring in July '09, and I was willing to pay the $150 to cancel that line as Verizon was going to give me a $100 credit for porting my lines. Which would almost cover the fee. I am questioning my original line that had the contract extended without my knowledge. The guarantee that you speak of is for 30 days, being that everything on the plan that they switched me to was the same as the plan I was on I never noticed a difference and it is now almost a year after they made changes. It was never explained to me that my plan was changing and I only became aware of this last week. The man that sold me the third line simply said I would pay $10 extra for the line until my existing contract expired and the s...

I never said there was not a mistake made. What I did say was that the rep does not seem to have lied through his teeth. Everything he said to the customer was correct. There just seemed to be something that went wrong between what he told them and the actual implementation of what he said. Again it seems like this is fixable. Just email sprint customer care because they seem to have more power to fix things then the normal customer care dept. He can basically just cut and paste what he wrote here. If that does not work. Call account services tell them if they cannot fix this you want to cancel even with the charge. A big part of their job is to find reasons for you to stay.

"They are also insisting that I upgraded my existing phone when I did this" which is untrue. This did not come from the salesperson who sold the phone. This came from whomever they talked to on the phone. I think what could have possibly happened was that when he started to sell the phone at first to see how much the guy was eligible for he might have started a sale on the first line. (not the best way to do it) and did not unclick where it says extend plan. I do not know for sure just my best guess. Anyways, it sound like a mistake that is correctable.

This happens all of the time and is an easy fix. I being a former employee for a retention center know how it works. They will tell you everything to keep you under contract, understandable, company needs to make money right? But every situation is different and can be fixed. Store reps pulled this move all of the time and retention reps are taught to deny any fault on the company part and push the blame to the customer. "You should have kept closer tabs on your account" etc. All the rep has to do is double click the agreement dates then "0" out the dates and save the info. The contract is then "up" thus freeing you. The reps over the phone make it sound like it is a huge deal to do (I did it myself) but it is simple. ๐Ÿ˜‰

you prob had a plan that could not have an addsub added on to it. This all goes back to the original rep that sold you the phone.

as far as the "right plan promise," that was not in place at the time your plan was changed. it was started in more like oct or nov of 07. so if your plan was changed after 30 days, that would renew the contract.

like the guy said before, there is ZERO tolerance for this anymore, and it is said that these things happen. But, if you had decided that you do not want to keep the service; id what until Dec. of this year when ETF's will start to be prorated. That might save you some cash.

11/07 is when the right plan promise was extended to whenever

your plan was changed on 7/07

we stop carrying fair and flexible plans long before 7/07

you could not add a line to the account without needing to change the plan. there's no way around it. i noted your account as such and unforunately the AG won't be able to do too much in this matter. we gave you what you wanted and over a year later your saying it wasn't right perhaps if we were contacted sooner... who knows... I don't know what else to say other than i'm sorry we weren't able to meet your wireless needs... i'd take the extra amount verizon is giving to port over use that to help pay your etf. again i...

Did you notice how they have no problem letting a customer go. That is why Sprint has the highest churn in the business over 2%. I worked for Sprint 4 years and was a Store Manager. Now I work for a carrier that has some of the lowest churn and it's because of the customer service. Sprint has all the fancy toys but, no customer service to go behind it. They outsource to ACS for customer service, which is the main problem with them. Sprint keep letting them go so I can pick them up.

What I am saying is that this has always been the response from Sprint. The tune never changes regardless of the situation. First I would see why they have no reception at his work place. Does the IMPACT map show they do have service and it's not working. What has Sprint done to research the problem versus imediatley saying "Sorry we can't do anything for you". It could be a known issue, it could not. Sprint does not exhaust options, only presents more problems for the customer. I used to love Sprint when I worked for them. I saw them traveling down a road that I could not continue on.

Sprint has always had great technology and great phones. They have never addressed the customer service problems. They leave no empowerment to the employ...

Once again don't concentrate on me. Concentrate on what potentially could have been done about the problem. Thats why Sprint has such high churn, they simply don't care. Who cares where I work now. Has everything been exhausted to help this customer. I bet you probably not. Was a trouble ticket placed for her husband to see if it's a network issue? Let me ask you a question why do you think Sprint has the highest churn out of any carrier and why is Sprints customer service always ranked dead last?

Sprint still has the worst churn in the industry at 2.3% last time I checked which is nearly double of that with Verizon. T-mobile customers call in complainging all the tim ebecause prices are so high or why they arent eligable for an upgrade. you see tmobile figures you deserve an upgrade only when your contract is about to expire while Sprint will give you an upgrade for every year you've been with them. Ive had Sprint for a year and my boyfriend has had it for 5. we recieved a letter with a free ringtone offer and also $5 off one of my next 3 bills. yes its ONLY 5 dollars but let me see tmobile or verizon do that. i mean like wow i kinda felt kinda special. ๐Ÿคญ ๐Ÿ˜ lol

It's awful that you're in that situation, but here are some warning signs that were missed:

1- if you buy a phone at a store you have to sign for the contract. It's recorded and kept on file for the duration of its length. If the store can't produce it then it usually is voided.

2- if you sign/change a contract date on a new or existing line they send you a welcome/info packet that outlines your service, your plan, and your contract. This usually arrives about a week to ten days after the change.

Really, though, you shouldn't say that Sprint is deceptive unless you personally have had several encounters with that. If it's one rep that screwed you, then that rep is deceptive and can/should be reported. You shouldn't knock an ent...

I do have a signed contract on my third line, that states it is for a 2 year agreement on that line. I am NOT stating anything is wrong with this and when this whole thing started I was more than willing to pay the $150 to them to cancel it. I am contesting the fact that when I called to have my original stolen phone suspended so that no one could use it they are stating that at that point I changed my contract and entered into a new two year agreement on my other original phone. Now as far as you voluntarily suspending your line for the handset being stolen, you could have very well replaced it either by upgrading, buying it as full SRP, checking with family and friends who may have had a Sprint handset no longer in use you could have, bought one on eBay, etc. I know full well ryansmom Sprint tells their customers when they suspend a line that for every month on suspension, another month is added to the existing contract. At this point just pay the EFT and get out. Your stupid for signing a contract when a phone got stolen. Come on man if some one stole you car would you NOT call the police or get a new one? The same applys for cell phones.

I am sure Tractfone would love you as a customer.

P.S. USE SOME DAM SPACES IN YOUR POSTS!

Gee yet again someone who cannot read! LET ME LAY THIS OUT FOR ALL WHO ARE COMPLETLY STUPID!

-12/07 Entered into a ONE year agreement with Sprint on a family plan with 2 phones (we'll call them 1 & 2)

-7/07 Phone 2 was stolen, reported phone stolen to Sprint. Options given were to purchase a new phone for $300, put a third line on my phone that would have a 2 year agreement, or simply let it ride until the contract was up. At this point we were having no problems with our phone service and I wasn't paying $300 for a new phone b/c I was on maternity leave from work. So I opted for the third line being that it would cost me $10/month for the next 5 months (as the Sprint explained to me) with no other changes. My old phones would remain w...

Sorry, that first date should be 12/06, not 12/07.

And I read I should have looked into other options, buying a phone off of Ebay/talking to a friend/etc. How would that have helped, being that I did not have my sim card?

How do you know that I didn't report it to the police? What difference does that make, they aren't going to magically give me a phone b/c it was stolen. I would be in the same situation.

No, iDEN devices can not be used on GSM wireless networks unless the handset is a iDEN/GSM one like the Motorola i920/i930 and even these two only work on the international GSM bands of 900/1800 MHz.

That is correct they are Nextel phones. However, I pay my bill to Sprint, my bill comes from Sprint, I have to call Sprint customer service for anything with my account. I have to log into Sprint to look at my account. Even try going to www.nextel.com, where does it take you?

Yea BTW you need to read my fricken post. You a moron for leting your phone NOT be replaced when it was stolen. A cheap sprint phone from ebay would of solved your problem. Or just get one from a friend to activate on the plan.

I think your barking up the wrong tree you have pissed off the whole forum while people have tried to help you. You have gone out of you way to carry this topic on for far too long.

You sir are a troll no cell service deserve your service or money for the way you have treated people here.

If your un happy with Sprint then just leave or let the contract run out.

Like I said Tractfone or two cups with some string is the best pick for you.

I say BRING ON THE LOCK! troll

After reading through your original, and several subsequent posts (Saint.Patrick could use a lesson or two tact), it sounds like when you added the 3rd line, the person made the mistake of not noting the account properly.

I am not 100% about how other companies systems work, but at mine, our computer system gets really mad at us when the main/primary line has a contract term date before that of any added lines. It doesn't kill service, thank god or I would have pissed off more than a couple people my first month, but it causes enough problems that we update all primary lines with the same term date with the term date for the added line, then not the account of the actual term date. We also note on the sub-agreement the same thing, that ...

WOW this is the longest thread I have ever seen. First of all I have read your statement and most of the replies before answering your question on how to get out of the mess you are in with Sprint. Now we have not extended contracts since Nov. 2007 for changing rate plans. This change obviously happened before the our new policy. What the rep did was give you alternatives either you could pay full retail for a phone or add a line for 9.99 and receive a lower price for the new line. If you planned on staying with Sprint I don't see to much of a problem, but on the other hand you claim service issues where you husband works. I would really hate to see a cutomer become discouraged with Sprint especially after of all of the changes thta have tak...

As I said in quite a few of my posts, ryansmom just either needs to deal with the fact of having her contracts up in 02/09 or bit it and fork out the ETF and stop complaining. I've already had it out with her and her husband, Matthew, via e mails about it. Some people just can't be satisfied.

I have just gotten through with reading your posts on phone scoop. You are correct in many ways, but you are an absolute drag on this company and all of our policies, procedures and processes. I myself came from retail, and have spent untold hours helping customers with issues that many times were of there own fault. I do believe after reading many of her posts that she never has fully understood what she got herself into. She is under the impression that her etf's are only $150, when we know they are $200. That is a prime example of her confusion regarding the situation. But ABSOLUTELY NONE OF THIS excuses your actions or personal assaults on her. I was a lead retail consultant myself, and would have never spoken to a customer this way. Not...

For all you know, I could very well be a PT employee with Sprint working FT for Sonny Perdue.

I read the 1st few sentences and already know you got your thought process wrong. You bout 2 phones, both discounted as the agreement you signed. Okay we understand that concept, now you had your phone stolen, very unfortunate, I have been there before, but what do you also purchase for those unfortunate mishaps.....INSURANCE, just like you do with your car, if someone stole your car, wreck it and you were unable to find out who did it and find your car all beat up, do you return back to the manufacturer and demand another one...with out pay? NO, you have your insurance to file a claim on, yes pay a small deduct, but I'd rather pay that than full $300 for a phone you probably got for free. I do not understand the deceptive point, the salesma...
