Digital and Analog Roaming
Whats the difference...?

Digital roaming allows, in most cases, for you to access things such as voicemail and texting, while analog roaming does neither. The advantage with analog roaming is that it's everywhere practically. Analog has much better coverage than any digital coverage.

been all over the country and have yet to analog roam. Unless your in parts of maine, west Virgina or other out in the middle of no were then you will get digital coverage. That is why analog is going bye bye soon!

Around Tennessee and western N.C., there's still quite a bit of analog only coverage, not to mention if you're in a part of town here where A Sprint or Verizon tower won't quite reach. The long stretch of road between Charleston Tn. and Delano Tn. has little to no digital coverage (except Nextel).
Analog may go away for cell phones but many home security providers still rely on it for their customers who don't have landline phones.

cingular is planning it next year and I dunno about verizon and alltel!

Another big difference is power. When the phone is operating in AMPS mode (analog) it will draw much more power. This will significantly reduce the battery life.
