the 800MHZ myth

Myth: 800 MHZ is a stronger signal there for it penitrates deeper.

Fact: 800mhz bandwith is the noisiest bandwidth used by wireless trafic. there is so much signal that if the signal is not broad cast at a high enough amplitude then it is very supseptable to distortion, resulting in loos of quality of signal.

Myth: 800mhz pentrates deeper into buildings then 1900 mhz

Fact: 800mhz looses a lot of its power as it truges threw its cluttered bandwidth. 1900 mhz is above most other frequenses being generated on planet earth there for it does not loose its power as it is transmited. What this means is that the net result is the same. you really don't get better signal one way or the other in terms of penetration.

The truth is that 80...

I tested you theory, and proved that is was not supported. I went to my son's high school, and test your unsupported theroy. As you know(or not)that most high schools are made from concrete. I have a Samsung A950(Verizon Wireless) I know where to get in the menu to select my preferd band(850, 1900) Walking down the stair in the lower level were signal is hard to reach and keep. I first tested the 1900 band and it was barley able to keep service let alone on bar. The I tested of course the 850 band and I was able to send txt and and hold calls with 1 bar or none. As long as it would say Verizon Wireless at the top, I could make and receive crystal clear calls. I was not able to even keep Verizon Wireless on the display when I was using the 19...

not a bad test but there is way to many facters that can alter signal reception. for example the more people on a tower the less the foot print. so if 10 people are one 800mhz and 30 people are on 1900 mhz, the 1900 mhz will have roughtly 1/3rd the range. now if 30 people are one 800 mhz and 10 people are on 800 mhz then the 800 mhz will have 1/3rd the range of the 1900. then of course you are also assumeing that both the 800 mhz and 1900 mhz are performing at the same persentage as well. the 1900 mhz could be performing at 95% while the 800 mhz it performing at 98%. you did have a great idea for a field test however there are to many factors to make it reliable.

that the test was unreliable because there is to many factors that play into the results other then spectyrum.

Sorry, not a very scientific test. Lots of factors could be in play and none of them could be related to frequency used.

also bars do not really demonstrate the ability to make calls, only the strength of the signal, it doesnt measure how loaded the signal is(ec/i0)

I believe your right and wrong. The 800 has more interference then the 1900 however the higher the freq the less it travels and penetrates. Just look how many more towers you need for 1900 vs 800.

One other thing. I believe It doesn't matter how much is on the same freq with digital. Analog yes you get a blend of other channels all the time. Not to mention static.
