Question concerning playing Mp3s....

I've recently switched to Sprint. I currently have a Sanyo 3100. I am wanting to get a Sanyo 9000 because it has all the limited features a Sanyo has plus features like 1.3 MP Camera, MP3 player, Mini SD Card Slot ect... My question is reguarding the MP3 Player. Does it have Siruis Music player on it? Do I have to subscribe to some service per month just to listen to MP3 on my phone. Or does it work similar to ROKR E1 or SE W660i where I just drag the music from my PC to my phone and can listen to them even if I don't have service? Just curious how this actually work.. Thank you for you time.. Tom

I do use the Sanyo 9000 (excellent choice of phone by the way)

Sirius radio is available through the media player. There is a monthly service charge for that, and you'd want to have a Vision package if you were going to do that to avoid "per kb" charges. They would be outrageous.

There are better options for radio on the phone through the media player, I recommend Sprint Radio. It's quite good.

As far as MP3s go, all you need to do is get an SD card reader for the computer (Sandisk makes a 12-in-1 reader/writer that does almost every card for about $30). Stick the card in the reader, drag-and-drop your MP3 files, and insert card back into the phone. BEFORE YOU DO ANY OF THIS, make sure you format the card by inserting into th...

Can you still find the 9000's outside of going through ESPN?

Good luck!! I looked on Ebay 2 days ago and didn't even find one!

That should say something. 😎

But, if somebody wants to put a good bid in on mine... 😁 😁

Look on Ebay now. Go to the search type in Sanyo 9000. There is a seller that has like 18 of them brand new with 100% feedback. I would buy one myself but currently don't have the money. So I'll have to stick with what I got (Sanyo 3100) until I can save about 300+ on the side. That's good to know that you don't have to have vision to play the MP3s on the phone. I had a friend that had the Samsung A920 and he said he had to subscribe to Sirius music to play the MP3s on there so I figured all Power Vision phone required that as well. Thanks.. Tom

I think your friend was mistaken. You don't need to have Vision to play MP3s on any phone that has a memory card. I've done it on the 920. Enjoy.

I want to confirm this for me and my friends sake because I told him that and he said the opposite. He said on his A920 that when he went to play an MP3 it would connect to Vision/Sprints internet so he took the phone back. I was just seeing if you can actually still play the MP3s without being in service at all. On the Sanyo MM-9000 or the Samsung A920. Another question is that I heard alot of EV-DO phone don't have analog roaming.. Is that true as well. Thanks and sorry to bother.. -Tommy

Don't worry, it's no bother. That's what phonescoop is for.

Your friend may be talking about the Sprint Music Store. That does require Vision to purchase songs from. On my Sanyo 9000, you don't need Vision to play songs that are in the music store. That being said, I've also tried it on the Samsung 900,and it would not allow us to access songs that had already been purchased in the music store w/ Vision blocked. Go figure!

But, as far as just transferring MP3 files from your PC to your memory card, and listening to them from the memory card, that DOES NOT REQUIRE VISION. That is a feature of the device, not the service.

Don't hesitate w/ any other questions, that's what we're all here for. 😁
