Using phone as a wireless modem
Why cant we use our phones as wireless data modems now? Once the 2G networks were rolled out, I was looking forward to using my cell phone as a way to get on the internet with my laptop. But now the sprint store reps I have spoken to tell me that this is a no no. That the only option is to buy the wireless lan card and also pay a high monthly service fee for a small amount of data. I mean come on, $40 dollars a month for only 20 megs of download data? Thats just insane.
So can one of you sprint guys give me an answer beyond *just because*? Or *thats just our policy*?

the 2g you could use and still can use as a wireless modem and still can. there are 2 reasons for this. 1 it is slower then dial up people generaly will not rely on it as primary internet. and that will keep the ussage down. and 2 it is a dial up system when you use your 2g phone as a modem it is deducted from your mins.
when 3 g came out they did allow you to use it as a modem. when vision was lanched the first people were limited by the mb they could use. if you went over there was a fee. sprint sold modem kits for phones and every thing.

So can sprint tell if you have been on their network now? Because every rep I have talked to has said that the modem use is monitored and will be punished by high fees if Sprint decides you have abused the service.
And do you know of a supplier of the data connection cables that Sprint used to supply?
By the way is the t608 a released phone? I have been wanting bluetooth ever since I got a palm with that built into it.
