In the market for a new phone, so as i am surfing i did the online chat with a rep named Kate. she was extremely helpful up until the last question. I asked her.. in your personal opinion should i go with the Shift or Epic (i know the answer i just wanted to here her opionon). She replied the Shift because its 4g and has a 5 mp camera. i laughed and said thanks for the info.... can someone upload me an application i think they need some help.

Just remember, it's their main job to sell contracts, NOT phones. This is why most reps only have a basic knowledge of phones. The typical customer requires little else, and those that do typically research on their own for the product.

The rep gets paid nothing (typically) on what phone you choose, it's all tied to contracts

The Shift is the superior phone. It's running Android 2.2. HTC Sense is a superior UI to TouchWiz. And the hardware is superior, in my opinion. The rep's facts were a little skewed, but it's still the better device of the two.

Superior? 🤣 You mean inferior. 😉

The Shift is a mid range device... the Epic is High end. The Epic 4g is the best device on Sprint. The Evo Shift is slower than the g2 on tmobile and has a smaller screen than the Epic.

I guess if you don't wanna video chat or ff camera. Or if you don't plan on playing any 3d games. Don't take pictures or record video. Or watch movies or need a device with a decent amount of storage space for pic, video, apps etc... Go with the Shift even though the Epic is better than the shift in almost every way possible. 😎

The Shift has a 5 meg camera...same as the Epic.

You obviously haven't used a 2.2 device. Otherwise, you'd see the immediate benefits the OS version has to offer. Hardware isn't everything.

Its not the same. Just because they both have 5mp cameras do not mean they are equal. The Camera on the Epic would knock the shift outta the park. Videos on the shift look choppy and blurry and the Epics are crystal clear people cant even tell they were shot with a phone.

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Im using a 2.2 Epic 4g right now and yes I do see the benefits of the OS. Seriously Sprint needs to fix that $hit asap. But even on 2.1 the Epic is still better than the shift overall. 😎

where did you get the 2.2 for the Epic? I keep checking, but I didn't think it was available.

He's using a leaked OTA build because his phone is rooted.

Just like I'm running Gingerbread on my OG Droid.

I have the leak offical dk28 update Sprint never released to the general public. I finally rooted my Epic after growing tired of waiting for Sprint to release 2.2 just to see if it made a difference. And I couldn't be happier. 😁 2.2 will blow you away and switching the file system from rfs to ext4 makes the Epic 4g a speed demon with much less force closes. Immediate benifits of 2.2 is full flash in the stock browser, new improved youtube app(youtube remote kinda gets you there on 2.1) and a much smoother more responsive os, all benchmarks go up as well. There are so many changes in 2.2 that make it hard for me to revert back to stock. 😎

The Epic Is a nice phone, however, its only drawback is that it's big and rather bulky compared to the rest of sprints phone lineup. Actually, it IS the biggest. and in my opinion, the Shift has a better looking screen than the epic. I know the Epic has the AMOLED display, but really, how often do you stand with your back to the sun and have it beating on your screen. Plus, the Shift just "feels" a little more solid than the Epic.

So basically, he admitted to wasting his and the reps time with a question he didnt need the answer to. His goal was to get a ludicrous answer just to come back to report it here.

When customer's always ask for device opinions, its best to just report facts about a device and advise the customer to go get a feel for the device and check specifics for themselves; what is acceptable for me, may not be acceptable for others.

This way, you dont give the customer a cop out to pass the blame, "well the CS Rep recommended this phone to me!"

🤣 Her answer was terrible. They both have 4g and a 5mp camera. I cant belive anyone would say the Shift is better than the Epic... Its not even better than the Evo. Go with the Epic 4g 😎

The only people I have ever seen complain about touchwiz are nerds or people who have heard nerds complain about it and are jumping on the bandwagon. 🙄 To the avg comsumer touchwiz is a plus and a welcomed feature, that has iphone similarities that make android easier to use. 😎
